A lot of us behave differently in the goyishe world, then we do when we are in the frum community, Why?
I think maybe it’s because as children our Principals, Rebbeyim, teachers always used to warn us before a class trip -“You had better behave, you don’t want to make a chillul hashem!”.
January 27, 2011 7:50 pm at 7:50 pm #732990Feif UnParticipantI think you have the question wrong. It’s not why do we behave better when we’re out, it’s why do we behave worse when we’re in the Jewish world?
January 27, 2011 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #732991real-briskerMemberMaybe you only realize how well you behave when you are amongst people that dont know what behave means.
January 27, 2011 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #732992deiyezoogerMemberWhy do kids behave better in school then at home? (well at least most kids).

And people still believe they “know” the boy/girl by then…

January 28, 2011 3:31 am at 3:31 am #733003oomisParticipantWhy do people treat strangers better than their own family members, at times? It’s because they want to IMPRESS the stranger and don’t feel the need to do so for their own family.
January 28, 2011 5:44 am at 5:44 am #733004HaLeiViParticipantYour own family feels like an extension of yourself. People feel, subconsciously, that they can be sort of Moichel their family’s Kovod.
January 28, 2011 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm #733005eclipseMemberHaleivi,well-put.
But why do people think if you love people “anyway” you can mistreat them?
