Why do we let go of the Tzitzis at ?????????? ???????????? ??????
September 28, 2016 6:32 pm at 6:32 pm #1185623mik5ParticipantThis is a good question. Anybody?
September 29, 2016 6:00 am at 6:00 am #1185624hujuParticipantI think it goes back to Rambam, but I forget why.
September 29, 2016 12:25 pm at 12:25 pm #1185625takahmamashParticipantBecause it would be to hard to hold them through the entire Amidah.
October 6, 2016 7:30 pm at 7:30 pm #1185626☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThe gematria of ??? is the same as tzitzis – 8 strings (doubled because spun) X 4 corners, + 5 doubled knots X 4 corners = 104.
We hold the tzitzis to show our chavivus for the mitzvah, i.e. that ????? are ??????.
October 6, 2016 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #1185627iacisrmmaParticipantCrookedHillary: Do you have a source for this gematria or is it your own? Each corner has 4 strings that doubled not 8.
October 6, 2016 9:24 pm at 9:24 pm #1185628☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantTaamei Haminhagim. Yes, 4 doubled is 8, then double it again because they are ??????.

October 6, 2016 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm #1185629iacisrmmaParticipantCH: Thank You! I looked last week in that sefer by Krias Shema and didn’t see it.
October 6, 2016 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm #1185630twistedParticipanthuju, it does not go back to Rambam, there is no such halacha in hilchos KS tzitzis or tefila. This is the realm of minhag.
October 7, 2016 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm #1185631AshParticipantThe sefer Ishei Yisroel on tefillah says that it comes from the siddur Yaavetz and it’s because this is the second ??? in two sentences, and twice ??? is gematria ???? and this is segulah (I think) for protection (I think) of one’s ???? (head). Look it up.
