Mods have jobs and family responsibilities, and don’t always have the time to volunteer to moderate someone’s website for free.November 14, 2011 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm #827034
OK Jothar, so give me your logon ID / pwd, I’ll do it. OOPS, I forgot, I’m not allowed to offer… SlichNovember 14, 2011 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm #827035soliekMember
jothar…that is outright slanderNovember 14, 2011 4:22 pm at 4:22 pm #827036
I am not a mod. Baruch Hashem shelo asani mod. If I was, I’d have to take responsibility for what goes on here. I have enough gehinnom as is.
My rav makes a bracha that he isn’t the mashgiach of a pesach hotel, and doesn’t have to take responsibility for what goes on there.November 14, 2011 6:09 pm at 6:09 pm #827037
What does that mean “Shelo asani”? One is not born a Mod. It takes years of rigorous training, drilling, countless months, years in laborious study, courses to become one.
RIGHT, MODS?November 14, 2011 10:20 pm at 10:20 pm #827038lolkatzMember
Jothar, you make it sound like being a mod is a sucker’s job. So why does everyone want to be a mod?November 14, 2011 10:59 pm at 10:59 pm #827039
They’re so modest, they won’t even confirm!!November 15, 2011 3:25 pm at 3:25 pm #827040
Zeeskite, you keep quoting Rav Avigdor Miller ZT”L. A serious talmid of Rav Avigdor Miller ZT”L would understand that we still thank Hashem for “hamotzi lechem min ha’aretz” even though man seemingly did all the work planting, plowing, harvesting, etc. So too, Hashem “makes” mods even though the mods appear to do the hard work.November 15, 2011 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #827041BTGuyParticipant
I think they should moderate machloikus. The consequences are much greater than online security. I know it’s not easy to state what you think and have someone take an opposing view, but this is the lifestyle we have chosen.November 15, 2011 4:05 pm at 4:05 pm #827042apushatayidParticipant
Mods dont sleep. What is behind such a silly notion.November 15, 2011 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm #827043
Jothar, are you following (stalking) me around?!? You know about me and my quotes?!?
Regardless, let it be known, I’m no SERIOUS talmid of his or of anyone. A cursory glance at my threads can reveal that.
That being said (as someone used to repeat over and over), we sure do thank HaShem for all our seemingly successes, as in the case with bread (He actually said it regarding bread). However, the brocha ‘shelo asani..’ does not refer to any accomplishments or advances a person makes, just one’s own initial being. That is my humble opinion. If the Rabbis here choose to disagree, I submit full-heartily.November 15, 2011 4:42 pm at 4:42 pm #827044lolkatzMember
So machlokes is worse than stopping predators. BTguy, did you go to Penn State for college?November 15, 2011 4:43 pm at 4:43 pm #827045
An eved can say shelo asani eved once he’s freed, even though he was born an eved. Hashem runs the world, and everything that happens is from Hashem.November 15, 2011 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #827046
So I guess you’re a Rabbi. Rabbi Jothar. Correct?November 15, 2011 5:27 pm at 5:27 pm #827047

Welcome back Minyan Gal, I was just thinking that we haven’t heard from you in awhile.
EMU stands for Eastern Moderator University. It is located in an undisclosed location in Easter Manitoba and is only accessible by camel or polar bear.November 16, 2011 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #827054
