Why would the YWN changed it’s standards for the worse and now print pictures of not-tzniusdic women?
January 7, 2014 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm #997696mddMemberI am shocked that nobody commented! No even Da’as Yochid or Nishtdayngesheft.
January 7, 2014 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #997697gavra_at_workParticipantThey are so holy, that they saw a Tznius woman where you did not.
I have no idea what you are talking about (I don’t read every article, especially the recent ones about the tragic death), but agree with you that if there are such pictures, they should be taken down.

Either way, if you have Chrome or FireFox, get AdBlock today and stop the headache called ADS!!

Generally speaking, websites that do not charge membership fees make revenue through advertisements. By running an ad blocker while browsing a free site like YWN you are taking revenue away from the site. I’m not a Rabbi so I won’t go into whether or not that is some sort of stealing but by blocking ads you are artificially lowering the amount of views YWN’s ads get and thereby lowering the amount of money they make.
Also, you mention Google Ads… just so you know, those are shown based on one’s browsing history so whatever ads you are seeing will be ads they have determined you have an interest in. As an example, when I see a Google Ad it’s usually for some sort of electronics or gadgets because that’s what I use the computer for. If one sees questionable ads in a Google Ad banner… one needs to evaluate their browsing habits.

Second of all, I really wouldn’t know what ads Google is sending me, cause they are blocked! And about the site losing ad money? I don’t know how it works. Is it, when I visit a site the advertiser gets charged for the ad or is it only when I click on a ad? If its the former, does the site recognize the ad blocker and not charge the advertiser? And if its the latter, I almost never click on ads.

January 8, 2014 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm #997708WIYMemberI’m more concerned about the ad telling people to invest their money and get back 4%(? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) a month. That comes out to over 24% a year!!!!! That has to be a ponzi scheme. In today’s economy (where the bank gives less than 1% A YEAR!) nobody can guarantee you 4% a month!
January 8, 2014 2:56 pm at 2:56 pm #997709SayIDidIt™ParticipantWIY: get AdBlock and forget about the ads! How do people see anything with all those flashing ads EVERYWHERE???
