A Jewish home is a Mikdash Me’at.
In the Beis Hamikdash, all the chores were done by men -cleaning and cooking.
Draw your own conclusions.

There are no women in Major League Baseball yet there are in Minor League Baseball.
Draw your own conclusions.

November 15, 2013 2:23 am at 2:23 am #1027237LevAryehMemberThe Rambam says to buy a house before you get married, so clearly one can have a house without a woman.
November 15, 2013 4:28 am at 4:28 am #1027238live riteMemberHey, LAB, that’s an interesting point. You know those guys going around saying people shouldn’t get married until they have a parnassa set, and then go quoting Rambam to support their point. Well they should on the same token be insisting no one get married until they first own a house.
November 15, 2013 10:46 am at 10:46 am #1027239RedlegParticipantLR, As one who has quoted the RAMBAM vis a vis having parnassah, I agree that in addition to a job, a chasan should also have a house or, at least an apartment, before he gets married. One must also remember that the likelihood of a bachelor’s house or apartment being fit for human habitation is rather low, so someone will need to muck it out before the kallah moves in.
November 15, 2013 2:19 pm at 2:19 pm #1027240Torah613TorahParticipantClick Vegetable: Women should do minor tasks, and men major tasks?
November 15, 2013 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm #1027241RedlegParticipantTorah613, Veg is right. In my marriage, I make all the major decisions and my wife makes all the minor ones. She makes the decisions about where we live, what schools and yeshivas to send the kids to, what kind of 401K and retirement fund to have, what stocks to buy, and I make the decisions concerning nuclear proliferation and global warming.
November 25, 2013 4:02 pm at 4:02 pm #1027242👑RebYidd23ParticipantRobots and monkeys should do most of the cleaning, men and women should divide up the chores of telling the robots and monkeys what to do, and for the rest clean up after themselves. Make sure to treat the monkeys well.

I do not believe that there are, or ever have been, female players in Minor League Baseball*. There were some women who were drafted, but none of them every signed or played.

* By “Minor League Baseball” I mean those leagues that are a part of the minor leagues affiliated with Major League Baseball. Of course, there were professional independent leagues where women played and there may be an independent professional team here or there that has a woman on it.

Rambam probably said that to make it more worth her while for the woman to marry that man who might otherwise have nothing else going for him!!!
November 25, 2013 8:09 pm at 8:09 pm #1027247oomisParticipantAnd while one can have a house without a woman – he most likely won’t have a home.

And all we eat is cow. Or young goat. And we get to throw the blood all over everything.
August 12, 2014 8:48 pm at 8:48 pm #1027249To be or not to beMemberThe rule is as follows; the man is the head of the household, however the woman is the neck AND THE NECK TURNS THE HEAD !! ( see, I’m repenting . Maybe my wife will let me leave the couch)
August 12, 2014 9:21 pm at 9:21 pm #1027250Sam2ParticipantI dispute the premise of this thread. Shuls and Batei Midrash are Mikdashei M’at. Homes are not.
So yes, Torah, I guess that all Shuls and Batei Medrash should be cleaned by men. 😛
August 12, 2014 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #1027251To be or not to beMemberWomen should always be clean
August 12, 2014 9:46 pm at 9:46 pm #1027252👑RebYidd23ParticipantIt’s kind of like cannibalism for a sheep to eat a kid.
