I would also use “old” potato starch.

depends how it is sealed. if like potato starch it is completely commercially sealed, i would check for bugs etc. and use but if it is in a paper bag and stuck into a baggie or whatever i would chuck it.

I once read that matzo gets worms in. Don’t remember where but a man put it over the fire and hundreds of worms came out so I gueSs u can have that in matzo meal. How would u check for bugs???

Potato starch – older is better than newer, and I never saw an insect in potato starch.

I save tons of pesach food from yr to yr.. i have learnt that shoprite sells their food with 50% or more OFF during chol hamoed. All is kept well in a bug free closet. i have never had problems.. and i check. sometimes oil or matza meal for that matter has a little smell from being old.. so i save those packets for frying not baking.

and besides, do you really know whether the groceries are saving their stuff yr to yr? what do they do when pesach is over? certianly don’t throw it all out..

Leah222: My wife went shopping last yeat and bought tons of non-perishable food at 50%+ off at Shoprite. Some items are meant to last forever while other do not. As long as the item was always sealed and kept out of the sun it should be ok.
