My son is interested in doing online college (that he has a full scholarship in) while going to Yeshiva. However his current first year Chofetz Chaim Yeshiva doesn’t really let any time taken off. What’s a good Yeshiva in America where he can go and only learn two Sedarim a day while doing online college for the rest of the time?

Can I ask, what online college and what does he want to get out of it (i.e. do for a living)?

It’s for a state university, but my question pertains more to finding a suitable yeshiva where he can learn seriously 2/3 of the day

Shor Yoshuv in the past had a number of guys attending college in the evenings. As far as learning seriously, he will have to be self motivated, saw a few too many guys fall through the cracks there (this was a long time ago though, I hear changes are in the works).

When will his current yeshiva begin allowing it?

Chofetz Chaim Yeshivas are typically three Sedarim, in which online college isn’t technically possible unless one somehow does it during free time. I think fifth year in Queens they’re permitted to take classes but only allowed off two night sedarim a week.

Online college degree arent worth the paper they are printed on, they are not accredited and they are super expensive

zahavasdad that statement was once true. However, nowadays online courses have little difference between any on campus degree in terms of employment. Furthermore, my sons degree program IS accredited by the highest form of accreditation available for this particular degree. And I already mentioned he has a full time scholarship.

Why not do an online yeshiva, if you think they’re the same?

Chabad is into kiruv. Maybe a chabad yeshiva would be ok with it. I know there’s a big one in morristown, and a small one in Vancouver.

I think Ohr Hachayim in Queens allows it. Most of the guys go Landers (about 15 minutes away) twice a week for part of afternoon and night seder. Some take online classes instead.

Go to a real yeshiva and get married, then you don’t have to go to night seder.

I found the right yeshiva for you. Its Heichal Shmuel, On Ave O E 10th st. I have been there for a year, and its very shtark, matzav. The rebbeim are very warm and bochurim really get involved . And they Have a program for Touro College guys twice a week for some who feel the could use it. They are very open to other colleges as well if you ask for it.
