Needed to pass by YiddishKite (PB for short) this morning… It looked like a war zone!! Every block (that’s why it’s called a block!) or so had some major construction, renovation, digging, drilling, mining …
What’s with it lately? The whole place needs to be rebuilt? All at once?
May 31, 2019 8:55 am at 8:55 am #1736232JosephParticipantYou moved out of BP?
May 31, 2019 9:10 am at 9:10 am #1736237Sam KleinParticipantSure that’s why everyone is moving out from there-to Lakewood. But that’s sad cause that’s changing Lakewood into a war zone from what used to be a beautiful Torah community town of people who moved there to devote their lives to Torah. Today that’s all over. Lakewood became a war zone city with tons of gashmius that does not belong in a Torah community. If you want to devote your life to Hashem and Torah then move to Cleveland. “That’s what Lakewood used to be like”
Very sad

AOC floated her new green deal. Part of it is to rebuild every building in America on the government dime.
Inzereh geribineh chevrah (that’s holy Yiddish for ” our multi talented guys”) convinced her that while they endlessly debate it in Congress, they should also do a pilot program in boro park to see real life impact in non laboratory conditions.Sorry you moved out of boro park.
You could have had a brand new zero emissions home for free.
Oh well
I guess you’ll just have to be from the “others ” who need to pick up the tabMay 31, 2019 12:52 pm at 12:52 pm #1736274Uncle BenParticipantSome of it, is the gas mains being replaced. The other is just regular construction, renovation etc. that’s been going on non-stop for the last 40 years or so.
I recall being in Boston once for Shabbos and it was pleasant not to see even one pebble of construction anywhere. However that’s not a sign of a growing community.May 31, 2019 12:53 pm at 12:53 pm #1736277Yserbius123ParticipantExcuse me! But according the yesterdays Scripps National Spelling Bee, it’s spelled YiddishKEIT.
