$18 or $1800: resolved.

I had previously posted about a mistaken check amount that I made payable to Chaim B’Chesed. I intended to give $18 to someone who came to my door, but in my haste wrote “eighteen hundred” (upon close inspection of the check, it was clear that it had not been altered). I was asking for help in finding contact information of the organization. I eventually did get their contact information and they were very ehrlich and sent me a check for the difference. Thanks to everyone for your help.

joseph, thanks for the information. If that’s correct, what’s the point of writing both a number and spelling out the number in words. I could understand going by the number spelled out if there’s a small discrepancy, but I think $18 vs $1800 should cause the bank to deny the check.
