YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Rav Abba Dunner ZATZAL, after an illness, at the age of 74. Rav Dunner was one of the most prominent Jewish personalities in Europe, and part of the Rabbinical Centre of Europe (RCE).
Several years ago, he lost his son, R’ Ben Zion Dunner in a serious car accident.
Rabbi Aryeh Goldberg, VP “Rabbinical Centre of Europe” released the following statement today saying, “on behalf of the Council of European Rabbis, and the hundreds of rabbis from all over the continent, I want to send our condolences to the family. The late Rabbi Abba Dunner was a pillar of European Rabbis and communities, to whom he dedicated his life, his strength and energy “.

Is Dayan Dunner his brother?

Baruch Dayan Haemes
Baruch Dayan Emes! What another great loss to Klal Yisroel!
Anyone who heard him on his last visit in lakewood on behalf of the Bochurim in Japan, saw what a true caring Askan he was – Chaval Al Deavdin…
We also heard his testimony on Koach HaTefillah when he recounted his personal struggle with his first illness.
I happened to meet him the next day and asked him what he felt is the core issue Klal Yisroel is facing in our generation. He said that it’s a lack of Emunah and Bitochon…When a person has full Bitochon, he understands that nothing is impossible in the hands of Hakodosh Boruch Hu and everything he does his for the good!
Anshei Emunah Avodu…Yehi Zichro Boruch.
BD”E. He was a giant of a man in his deeds. His sense of responsibility together with his sense of humour, made him into one of the most impressive & likeable persons one could ever imagine. he will be sorely missed by all those who were zocheh to know him. May he be a meilitz yosher for all of klal yisroel, just as he was always prepared to do anything for any Yid in need.
Baruch Dayan Ha Emess. A zaddik in our generation. He worked tirelessly for the 3 bochurim in Japan.
#1, yes he is the eldest brother of Dayan Dunner.
May his dear family find much nechama and may he be a meilitz yashar for them and all of Klall Yisrael Amen.
