WATCH: Orthodox Jewish Woman Pistol-Whipped, Robbed at Gunpoint at North Miami Beach Supermarket

Police are searching for two men who robbed an Orthodox Jewish woman at gunpoint outside a supermarket in North Miami Beach last week.

The incident took place in broad daylight, shortly before 4:00PM on Friday, in the rear parking lot of the South Florida Kosher Market at 1324 NE 163rd St.

The 67-year-old woman said the robbers approached her as she finished loading groceries into the trunk of her car, and was entering the Toyota Camry.

One of the men pushed her into the vehicle and ordered her to hand over her purse.

“The gun is in his hand, and he puts the gun to my head,” she told WSVN.

Police said the woman refused and a struggle ensued.

“This guy is on my right side. This guy is on my left side. He takes the gun, and he starts hitting me, hits my head with the gun, hit my shoulder and my back also,” she said.

The victim was also hit on the top of her head, leaving a gash.

The suspects made off with about $1000 cash, and the victim’s cellphone. That money included several hundred dollars in charity donations she was going to drop off after her grocery store run.

The victim said she fought the men because she was afraid they would kidnap her.

“As he put his hand in my mouth, I bit his hand,” she said. “I got a hold of it and didn’t let go. I bit his hand.”

Authorities said the armed robber continued pointing the gun at the victim as she walked away and searched for help.

The robbers were seen running west on Northeast 162nd Street toward 13th Avenue after the incident.

Anyone with information about the robbers’ identities is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

  1. Cooperation might be a good idea, but not once she was in the car. She was right to fear being kidnapped. One idea in such a situation is to throw the car keys as far away as possible. That way, even if the thugs get the money, phone, etc., they wouldn’t be able to kidnap her, which could end a lot worse than just a pistol whipping.

  2. It is NOT a good idea to just give in. Criminals are stupid and vicious, first they think they have a hostage, then when they realize its become more complicated, they eliminate the hostage.

Fight, toss your keys, run, but never surrender.
