SAME SCHOOL, MORE HATE: Swastika Fliers Found at California School Rocked By Viral Nazi Salute Photos

A week afterbeing rocked by viral social media postings of its students doing a Nazi salute and arranging “beer pong” cups into the shape of a swastika, a California high school campus was vandalized with Nazi posters.

The vandals hit Newport Harbor High School this past Saturday night or early Sunday morning, according to Annette Franco, a spokeswoman for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

Police say they received a call from the school Sunday, around 9:30AM, reporting at least 10 8-by-11 fliers bearing swastikas posted all over campus, said Heather Rangel, a spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department.

She said the posters were not recruitment fliers representing any group. No property damage was reported.

Principal Sean Boulton wrote in a statement to parents that the posters were immediately removed when school officials found them Sunday morning.

“Again, we condemn all acts of anti-Semitism and hate in all their forms,” he wrote. “We will continue to be vigilant with our stance, and the care of our students and staff.”

Last Thursday, the stepsister of Anne Frank visited privately with students who attended the party and described an emotional meeting in which she recounted her experiences at the Auschwitz death camp.

They apologized profusely during the meeting, which also included parents, community members and student leaders from Newport Harbor High School.

The two teenagers who blew the whistle on the Nazi salutes have come forward. Kaitlyn Turner and Joey Sable, who are Jewish, posted screenshots of the anti-Semitic photos, which was taken at a party for high schoolers in Newport Beach. Their outrage triggered a viral national response.
