A weekend fire at a Christian pregnancy center in north-central Colorado is being investigated as a possible arson, police in Longmont said.

The fire at Life Choices was reported at 3:17 a.m. Saturday, hours after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and said abortion laws would be decided by the states.

The front door was broken and the front of the building had been spray painted with the words, “if abortions aren’t safe neither are you.” On the concrete porch were the words “bans off our bodies.”

The building sustained fire and heavy smoke damage.

Life Choices is a “Christ-centered ministry” that offers free services related to pregnancy and sexual health, information on reversing the effects of abortion pills and post-abortion support for guilt, shame, anxiety and depression, according to its website.

Life Choices executive director Kathy Roberts said the center is devastated and stunned “by this frightening act of vandalism.” The attack, she said, affects people who need support, such as pregnancy tests, parenting classes and financial assistance, the Times-Call reported.

Police are asking people who live in the area to check their home surveillance video and forward any relevant video to police.

Separately, Police in Virginia are investigating vandalism at a pregnancy center that discourages women from having an abortion.

Lynchburg police on Saturday said the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center was spray painted with graffiti. The words “If abortion ain’t safe, you ain’t safe” were written on the walkway leading up to the center, and anarchist symbols were painted on the exterior brick wall.

Several windows were also broken.

Police say security footage shows four masked individuals committing the vandalism early Saturday morning.

In a tweet, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a Republican, said Virginia State Police are available to assist in the investigation.

“There is no room for this in Virginia, breaking the law is unacceptable. This is not how we find common ground,” he wrote.

Youngkin said Friday after the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade ruling protecting abortion rights that he hopes to outlaw abortion in most cases after 15 weeks.

Also on Sunday, Fairfax County Police said they were investigating a vandalism case at St. John Neumann Catholic Community Church in Reston after they observed smoldering mulch on the grounds and graffiti related to the abortion ruling. Police said they are working with church officials to review surveillance footage as part of their investigation.

  1. To be fair, how about the assault by an off-duty police officer on a pro-choice demonstrator in Providence RI (who also happened to be running for the state senate against her) and a pickup truck deliberate running into pro-choice demonstrators in Iowa.
There are sadly crazies on BOTH sides of the issue.

  2. It’s time for Rittenhouse and his gang to arm themselves with their AR-15’s and protect all the places that are under attack.
    We need law and order.
