KIDDUSH HASHEM: B&H CEO Awards Employees Extra Week’s Pay Amid Rising Cost Of Living

In a remarkable gesture of appreciation for his workforce, B&H Photo CEO Menashe Horowitz announced that every employee of the company will receive an additional week of wages as a bonus, citing the financial challenges many families continue to face due to the rising cost of living.

In a memo distributed to employees, Horowitz praised the company’s staff for their hard work, dedication, and commitment during what he described as a successful year for the company despite a challenging retail environment.

“I am aware that cost-of-living has continued to create difficulties across the world at large, and despite working hard, many of our employees have experienced some level of financial challenges,” Horowitz wrote.

He added that B&H values its employees and that sharing the company’s success is a way of expressing gratitude and recognition for their contributions. As a result, all employees will receive an additional week of wages—excluding overtime pay—in their current payroll cycle.

The announcement comes just weeks before the company’s annual raise cycle, with Horowitz noting that salary increases are expected to be approved in the coming weeks as well.

Despite being one of the largest and most respected photography, video, and audio retailers in the world, B&H remains firmly committed to its Torah values, closing not only its flagship Manhattan store but also its entire website every Shabbos and Yom Tov.

For many, the decision to reward employees with an extra week’s pay serves as another example of how business success and strong Jewish values can go hand in hand.
