NYC Declared America’s Rudest, Dirtiest, & Noisiest City

New York has been named America’s rudest city in a survey by Time + Leisure magazine.

The magazine has published its 2011 survey of favourite American cities with categories ranging from nightlife and bars to culture, shopping and people.

But the article said The Big Apple was also America’s most diverse city, which could explain some of the unfriendliness.

“New Yorkers’ mannerisms are unfamiliar to many and people don’t mean to be nasty,” it said.

Miami is the second rudest city in the US, according to the magazine, and Washington DC, Los Angeles and Boston rounded out the top five.

America’s dirtiest cities were New York and Baltimore and New York and Las Vegas were named the noisiest.

  1. Interesting, frum out of towners feels the same way towards New York’s frum neighborhoods, as people in general feel towards the city in general.

  2. What an honor! On this day, I can’t help but feel proud to be a New Yorker. Once again, New York comes out on top, beating all other cities for the top spot. What do we get, by the way, for winning? I think every New Yorker should receive a fair share of the prize for his/her contribution to the overall group effort that went into this.

  3. ““New Yorkers’ mannerisms are unfamiliar to many and people don’t mean to be nasty,” it said.” nice try. compare driving in NYC & anywhere else.

  4. We should be surprised? I don’t know how much can be changed re noise, but we can clean up after ourselves & start greeting people nicely. A “please” & “thank you” wouldn’t be wrong either. Rare, ’tis true, but not wrong.
