Today, Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin’s appeal heads to the Supreme Court for consideration.
Attorney Paul Clement and Nathan Lewin will be representing Rubashkin and will be filing a cert petition to the court. They will request that the court agree to hear this case. The Supreme Court gets approximately nine thousand requests a year and grants just about seventy of them.

It’s time to put differences aside. We all should daven and say Tehillim for Sholom Morderchai Halevi ben Rifka.
Clement is the best lawyer in America today. He clerked for John Ashcroft and is representing the states in their suit against Obama’s Affordable Care Act. He is widely regarder as a genius and as possible future Supreme Court Justice. NPR recently ran a feature piece on him.

Clement and Lewin are both great lawyers, but al pi derech hateva the odds are very much against this cert being granted. If it is granted it will be a sure sign that לב מלכים ושרים ביד ה׳
