MK Eichler On Chareidi Infighting: “We Act Like Children In Cheider”

It is no secret that Degel Hatorah MK Moshe Gafne feels the litvish do not receive fair representation and too many seats are given to Agudas Yisrael in the party deal.

The latter and Degel Hatorah form Yahadut Hatorah.

While he does not often comment on the matter, MK Yisrael Eichler, who is a representative of the Belze Chassidus, stated “we act like children in cheider, each running around making noise. However, the moment the rebbe walks in, there is quiet”.

Eicher stated he and his colleagues do not act independently but at the behest of the Agudas Yisrael Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael, stating he is confident the Council will not give permission in the future to split and run independently of Degel Hatorah. Eichler made his comments last week during a bein hazmanim panel in Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael.

Also taking part on the panel were MK Michael Michaeli and Jerusalem Councilmen Yitzchak Pindrus and Aryeh King.

Eichler added the Belzer Rebbe Shlita, who always sees a step ahead, was first to come to Rav Shach’s ZT”L ZY”A side for achdus, and today, he feels it would be unacceptable situation that followers of the Bal Shem Tov and those of the Vilna Gaon are unable to sit at one another’s side for the common good. Eichler then paid a compliment to Health Minister Litzman, the Gur representative and his colleague in Agudas Yisrael.

“First of all, this is a person who awakens at 3 AM, toivels in mikve, and this is not easy and one must understand this is a chassidishe yid, making a Kiddush Hashem by his behavior. I am compelled to tell you that what he does in the Health Ministry for all Klall Yisrael, not a single other minister has done since the creation of the state”.

  1. Let us hope and pray that Rabbi Eichler’s words come true, for we can ill-afford to act divided, and nothing good will come out of it.Let us stop the needless bickering of who deserves what, and remain united for our common goal to protect the Torah world.
