Cult “Shawl Woman” Arrives at the Jerusalem Induction Center Following Her Arrest

A member of the shawl women’s cult, the 21-year-old female arrested at Ben-Gurion International Airport earlier in the week, arrived at the IDF induction center on Rashi Street in Jerusalem on Thursday morning, September 26, 2019.

The woman arrived in her shawl garb, a strange site for the personnel in the center.

The woman was on her way to Uman for Rosh Hashanah when arrested at the airport. She has since asked her rav what to do, since she would still like to travel to Uman, but at present, there is an order prohibiting her from leaving the country and if she attempts to do so, she is flagged by the computer at the airport.

Her rav instructed her to report to the induction center and straighten out the matter, requesting to receive a draft deferment on religious grounds and then fly to Uman as planned. When she arrived on Thursday, other shawl women, who regularly stand outside the induction center, shouted “shiksa” at her as she entered. They told her that dressing as she does and then entering the induction center, seriously harms their efforts to persuade frum women not to serve in the military.

Fearing the situation may become turbulent, police were called, and a force remained for a period of time to make certain violence did not erupt.
