LEFTY LUNACY: Biden Admin Considering Banning Gas Stoves Nationwide

The Biden administration is reportedly considering taking action that would ban the use of gas stove nationwide over the pollutants released by the appliances.

Bloomberg reports that The Consumer Product Safety Commission is weighing the nationwide ban after studies showed that gas stoves can cause health and respiratory problems, with CPSC Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. telling the outlet that “any option is on the table. Product that can’t be made safe can be banned.”

The American Chemical Society and NYU Law School’s Institute for Policy Integrity released reports which state that gas stoves release pollutants like nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and fine particles at levels that have been deemed unsafe by the EPA and World Health Organization.

The reports also link gas stoves to respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular problems, cancer, and other health conditions, with 12% of childhood asthma cases linked to the appliances.

About 40% of US homes currently use gas stoves.

Trumka said his agency will open public comment on the matter later this year.

  1. The way the Republicans and Trump are going, Biden won’t need to issue a constitutionally dubious executive order since in another 24 months he’ll have total control of Congress.

  2. Well you voted Democrat, Askonim. Great job, Askonim. You continuously put your interests before the klal but pretend you’re helping the klal.

  3. A. To lakewhut: What do gas stoves have to do with klal yisrael. Jews cooked for 3000 years before the invention of the gas stove. And just to be clear, I am a lefty (politically, though I bat and throw righty), but I like my gas stove.

    B. Maybe gas stoves do create a problem of pollution. What is wrong with considering the possibility?

  4. It’s absurd that caring about pollution has been labeled a “lefty” thing. The chemicals released in the atmosphere don’t care whether you are a conservative, liberal or whatnot. A functional society would look at problems and try to see how to best deal with them, not dismissing them as a “lefty” or “rightwing” thing.

  5. “The reports also link gas stoves to respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular problems, cancer, and other health conditions, with 12% of childhood asthma cases linked to the appliances.”
    Key word is linked.
No positive causation has been found, rather there is a correlation.
As the old adage goes “correlation does not equal causation”.
100% of people suffering from all those ailments and many others breathe oxygen, if we cannot find a way to make oxygen safe all options should be on the table.
    Ridiculous!

  6. I’m as right wing as they come, but if it’s true that is does cause respiratory issues, then just because it came from the biden administration doesn’t mean it’s wrong. I mean it turned out that coal mining is a health hazard even though Republicans were always pushing for it. Always assuming that your party is always right is just plain moronic.

  7. To Lostspark: Where did you read this? And, fyi, senators and representatives of both parties have been caught making investment decisions using inside information they obtained in the course of carrying out their legislative duties. I do not recall whether they were criminally prosecuted.

  8. I don’t understand why its being labeled “lefty”.
I happen to be in the middle of major renovations, and when it came to the kitchen I switched the plans from gas to electric.
No I am not a green energy lefty, I vote republican.
Breathing cleaner air is not only a lefty thing. (climate change is a different story)
I researched it and not too surprising, burning an open gas fire indoors actually releases, gas, CO2 and contaminates into the air…. (in the most used room of the house)
It’s not rocket science. Many people (right wing/conservatives/republicans) that I know will not turn on a real burning fireplace, or a furnace without a chimney. Why? well it turns out it isn’t smart to have exhaust fumes inside your house.
Well, how come when it comes to the kitchen we don’t care about exhaust? its just because people got used to the idea…
Yes, I know that many people have a hood fan over the stove… But most people, A. don’t turn it on every time they turn on the stove and B. many people don’t event have their hood venting out of the house (like a chimney), rather it just blows the air back into the kitchen.

  9. From what I’ve read, gas stoves are 285% more dangerous than covid vaccines. For those of us who rely on the psak that it is forbidden to endanger yourself beyadayim, it’s time to go electric.

  10. It’s so irritating to me that this is considered “lunacy” by people who haven’t taken the time to research this issue. If Biden had been the one to ban paint containing lead, those people would have protested. Before today, I did not know that gas stoves can cause health problems. Now that I know, I am less likely to leave a flame on all shabbos/yom tov. I also would choose an electric stove or a stove without a pilot light. Not everything the democrats say is stupid, and the things republicans say aren’t toras moshe misinai.
