UK Parliamentary Committee Urges Action On Gaza

David Cameron and Binyamin Netanyahu in JerusalemBritish Prime Minister David Cameron is coming under increased pressure over his government’s policies on Gaza, after a cross-party parliamentary committee urged him to press Israel to lift restrictions on trade and travel in the territory.

The Commons International Development Committee says travel and trade curbs on Gaza’s people are not “proportionate” and that some are contrary to Israel’s obligations under international law.

The committee on Wednesday called on Britain to “encourage Israeli authorities to lift those restrictions which are not justified by security needs.”

Cameron is under fire for his support of Israel. Disputes within his Conservative Party were laid bare Tuesday when a prominent member of Cameron’s camp, Sayeeda Warsi, resigned as Foreign Office minister in protest of what she called Cameron’s “morally indefensible” stance on Gaza.

  1. Plz go to l with your himanitarian gestures. I think wr should learn frombritains treatment of the jews during ww2 how to deal with undesirables

  2. I have the best plan:

We lift the blockade, and the UK signs an agreement that if there any rocket fire into Israel they bring THEIR military and conquer Gaza and hand it to us, (since they can do a better job fighting while protecting civilians…).

    How’s that.

  3. The British, more than any other people, suffered from rocket fire during WW II. They, above all others, should condone Israel doing everything in their power to stop the rockets. It must be that the parliamentarians in Britain are all too young to remember WW II, but don’t any of them remember their parents talking about the terror of the rockets?

  4. Britan refused to bomb Auschwitz despite human consideration (they said they only bomb for strategic reasons not humanitarian!) – Israel restraint itself to bomb because of humanitarian reasons whenever possible.
