PHOTOS: Brooklyn Boro President Awards Good Samaritans Who Chased Down Man Who Stabbed Orthodox Jewish NYPD Liaison

Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams paid tribute to three Brooklyn heroes that helped to save the life of stabbing victim Hershi Pfeiffer and to chase down his attacker in Brooklyn Heights on Monday, September 22^nd. New York City Fire Department (FDNY) EMT Jenelle Rivera, who responded within minutes and performed first aid that controlled the bleeding, construction manager Marcell Alberti, who chased the perpetrator while dialing 911, and Dr. Enrico Ascher, who provided medical care, received honorary citations and were declared “Heroes of the Month” by Borough President Adams for their valiant actions.

“Ordinary people have extraordinary potential to change lives, as our three latest Heroes of the Month showed,” said Borough President Adams. “These individuals showed bravery, resourcefulness and an instinct of true goodness as their combined efforts saved the life of Hershi Pfeiffer. I join all of the people of One Brooklyn in thanking them for helping make our borough a safer place for children and families.”

“The vital life-saving aid rendered by EMT Janelle Rivera demonstrates the unwavering dedication of FDNY members to save lives in New York City – regardless if they are on or off duty,” said FDNY Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro.

This was the third of Borough President Adams’ monthly “Heroes of the Month” events, honoring the accomplishments of Brooklynites from all walks of life.
