Paterson, Cuomo Hold Private Meeting To Discuss Transfer Of Power

The state’s present and future governors sat down for a private meeting today for the first time since Andrew Cuomo was elected to the high office last week.

At a press conference following the meeting, Governor David Paterson applauded Cuomo’s honesty and pragmatism in dealing with the many problems daunting Albany for years.

They said they discussed the transition process involving personnel and they are setting up a transition committee to find the most talented people available to fill the many jobs in state government.

Paterson vowed to help Cuomo in any way possible.

The budget dilemma is the chief concern for Cuomo as he prepares for office. He reiterated his promise for no new taxes, saying there is no “economic future if New York is the tax capital of the nation.”
