Emergency medical service (EMS) volunteers from United Hatzalah and EMS personnel from Magen David Adom responded attempted to revive a young man who had fallen off a cliff near Sironit Beach in Netanya. According to a report by Yediot Acharanot, it is unclear whether the young man walked off the cliff, or if part of the cliff face collapsed below him. Criminal activity has been ruled out by police investigators.

The young man suffered severe injuries as a result of his fall. When EMS responders arrived at the scene the young man was in critical condition. They began to treat the injured teen and as his situation deteriorated they began CPR and resuscitative efforts to save his life.

Magen David Adom paramedic Anna Igentiv said: “We received the call about a youngster who had fallen off a cliff by Sironit beach. We arrived at the beach entrance with our Mobile intensive care unit but had to walk hundreds of meters to reach him as the area was unreachable by regular cars. He had suffered a full system impact injury and was in critical condition. We administered drugs and treatment at the scene and he was evacuated while undergoing CPR and resuscitative measures in an effort to save his life while en route to the hospital.”

“The teen was transported off of the sandy beach area to a waiting ambulance by one of United Hatzalah’s ATVs given to the volunteers in the area specifically for emergencies that take place on or near the sandy bluffs overlooking the beaches,” said President and Founder of United Hatzalah Eli Beer. “These vehicles helped this young man receive help faster. Unfortunately, this story did not have a happy ending and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.”

After the patient was transported to the mobile intensive care unit waiting for him, he was taken in critical condition to Laniado Medical Center, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
