Ramot Gimmel Council Sends A Letter To Justice Minister Shaked Asking For Legal Assistance

Residents of the Ramot Gimmel neighborhood of Yerushalayim sent the following letter to Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked. This is another area in the capital what over the years has become a chareidi majority but the persons in seats of authority, who were present prior to the arrival of chareidim, wish to maintain their authority despite the demographic realities which exist today.

Honorable Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Shalom.

We are residents of the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem standing helplessly in front of the trampling of the law by the Jerusalem Municipality.

We are a low-income population, unable to hire a lawyer. The Jerusalem Municipality exploits our weakness and acts against the law.

We live in front of a public garden that serves as a playground and a walk for all the residents of the neighborhood. Recently, the Jerusalem Municipality expanded the Beit Yaakov school – “Ohel Rachel” and created a concrete monster that stole a considerable portion of the garden.

But the main harm to the residents is that the area of the garden remaining to the residents is according to the law.

Green space

An area intended for the benefit of the residents, this area, was stolen from us without any publicity, and without the cooperation of the residents, just like thieves at night.

(We wish to point out that many violations of the law have been committed in this matter, such as, the Ministry of Transport has not approved the construction of the school due to lack of parking spaces.)

The Jerusalem Municipality does as good as it sees the law for it is not even a recommendation.

We residents are helpless and without means in front of the draconian municipality that ridicules us.

We ask for your help and help from anyone who can help

In the State of Israel, a group that does not have the means to use the legal service,

In the State of Israel, a group that does not have the means isn’t entitled to legal assistance?

Sincerely, The Residents Committee

We’ll wait for an answer to this email

And the residents committee of the Ramot neighborhood
