Rocket That Slammed into Mishmeret in the Sharon Region Had an 80km Range


Magen David Adom emergency medical service officials report seven persons were injured in the rocket attack earlier this morning, Monday, March 25, 2019, with two victims in moderate condition and the remainder light. The injured include a 3-year-old and a half-year-old, B’chasdei Hashem both in light condition. The rocket launch was detected at 5:22 AM, with the rocket launched from southern Gaza, the Rafiach area, signaling that a long-range rocket was used in order to reach the Sharon area, striking two buildings in the community of Mishmeret.

According to a News13 report, the rocket was a J-80, with an 80km (48 miles) range. The rocket made a direct hit on a home, leading to extensive damage, as reported earlier.

B’chasdei Hashem there was no loss of life or serious injury. A dog was reportedly killed in the attack that struck two buildings.

Dr. Eliezer Miller, Deputy Director of Meir Hospital in Kfar Sava reports that a total of seven people arrived in the emergency room. The hospital is treating a 60-year-old woman who was injured running to the safe room. Her injuries include shrapnel injuries to her body and extremities. She is listed in moderate condition. The remainder, three adults and three children are listed in light condition including 12, 3, and 6-month-old girls.

At present, it is reported the IDF Homefront Command is not changing the alert status in response to the early morning attack.

The attack comes as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is visiting in the United States, with a planned meeting in the White House with President Donald Trump. The prime minister, who also serves as defense minister, has already been briefed. While the alert status is not being upgraded, a severe response against terrorists in Gaza is expected.

Sharon District Police Spokesman Commander Ami Ben-David calls on residents to continue with their daily routines, stressing schools and businesses will be operating on regular scheduled and “There was an incident at 5:20 AM and it is over and it is back to the routine” he told News13.

Some are asking why the Iron Dome did not fire to intercept the rocket. It is explained that the units are mobile, and deployed according to situation assessment and it appears in this case, there was no warning or intelligence community information prompting the positioning of an Iron Dome to protect this area.

Mishmeret is a moshav in central Israel. Located in the Sharon plain near Netanya and the HaSharon Junction and covering 3,800 dunams, it falls under the jurisdiction of Lev HaSharon Regional Council.

  1. so how many empty warehouses will the IDF bomb to show Hamas that we won’t take this garbage???

    How about doing some real damage, like targeted killings of the Hamas elite and their families???
