Coalition Talks Between Likud And Yahadut Hatorah For Tuesday Evening Postponed

Coalition talks between Likud and Yahadut Hatorah (YH) scheduled for 6:00PM Tuesday evening have been postponed. However, the reason for the postponement is not due to disagreement, as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday evening met with the heads of the YH factions, MK Moshe Gafne and Deputy Minister Yaakov Litzman.

Instead of the planned negotiations, YH will convene at a meeting of the Degel Hatorah party in Bnei Brak, during which the rest of the Knesset members will receive an update from the party leaders on the meeting with Netanyahu.

“There is no crisis in the talks, but the opposite: there is progress, which the Knesset members will be reporting tonight from the heads of the faction,” senior YH officials say.

For now, it appears that the next formal negotiation meeting between the negotiating teams of the two sides will take place on Wednesday in the Knesset.

A week ago, a Likud-YH meeting was canceled, as the move led to the surprise of the “Central Party” (Gur), on the orders of the Rebbe, because of the Chilul Shabbos around the Eurovision Song Contest.
