Acting on intelligence community reports, IDF forces along the northern border will move to a heightened alert status as Israel prepares to release Samir Kuntar. Hizbullah has dubbed the operation “Radwan” which was the operative name of the organization’s second in command, Imad Mughniyeh, who was killed in a Feb. 2008 car bomb attack in Damascus. While Israel has denied culpability in the attack, Hizbullah points a finger of blame at Yerushalayim and has vowed to avenge the attack.
Intelligence officials warn that the attempted revenge attack will come following Wednesday’s prisoner exchange, with either an attempted cross-border attack in one of the northern communities, or another attempt at abducting soldiers.
