Lapid Incites: “I’m Filing Petition To Supreme Court Against Money For Chareidim”

Yair Lapid.  (Ido Rimon)

Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid announced on Monday that his party will file a petition tomorrow to the Supreme Court against what he described as “the theft of more than one billion shekels from the citizens of Israel.”

“Yesh Atid will petition the Supreme Court tomorrow against the theft of more than one billion shekels from the citizens of Israel,” Lapid said. “This money is transferred to Charedi institutions illegally, through an improper process, while attempting to conceal it from public view,” he claimed.

He claimed that “this amount includes 426 million shekels for the Chinuch Atzmai of United Torah Judaism, with no oversight; 360 million shekels for the Maayan HaChinuch HaTorani network of Shas, with no oversight; and 136 million shekels for ‘recognized but unofficial’ educational institutions, of which 75 million shekels are coalition funds—of course, with no oversight.”

“This amount also includes, in separate line items intended to hide them, an additional 151 million shekels for exemption institutions, 40.2 million shekels in support of Torah institutions, 11 million shekels for Chinuch Atzmai, another line item of 6 million shekels for Maayan HaChinuch HaTorani—why it is separate we have not yet managed to clarify—and another 12.8 million shekels for unidentified Torah institutions. Again, with no oversight.”

“There are additional smaller items, but this is the main picture. In total, more than one billion shekels, outside the state budget, are being stolen from working people—those who serve in the IDF, taxpayers, and the Israeli middle class—and transferred in the dead of night to people who do not serve, do not work, and do not pay taxes.”

Lapid further claimed, “This money is added to the inconceivable sum of 60 billion shekels that the State of Israel pays every year to finance Charedi draft evasion. Precisely in two years of war, when people are doing 200 and 300 days of reserve duty, funding for draft evasion is at an all-time high.

“At the same time, our children are studying in overcrowded classrooms with teachers who are paid too little. Our wounded are in hospitals collapsing under the burden. Our roads are congested, the cost of living is breaking families, personal security is at an all-time low, and the government is raising municipal taxes and other taxes. This petition is being filed because we’ve had enough.

“We’ve had enough of financing a corrupt, rotten, wasteful government that doesn’t count the citizens of the state for anything. We’ve had enough of the fact that every time they have a coalition problem, their solution is to bribe each other with our money. We’re fed up with paying taxes and getting nothing in return.

“What may be most terrible of all is that the money they are taking from us today is being used to destroy our children’s future. They are creating another generation—much larger, with many more people—of young men who do not serve in the army and do not work, whom our children will have to support.”

“We are determined to stop this. The petition to the court will be filed tomorrow. We will do everything to stop this madness. But most importantly, in the next government we will take this money away from them—without blinking, without hesitation—and transfer it to state education, health care, traffic solutions, and strengthening the personal security of every citizen of Israel.”

  1. Before lapid knows it:- he shall be facing his Majer:- Petitioning his Maker for the גן עדן slots that were assigned to the חרידים & to the בני-תורה

  2. “…to people who do not serve, do not work, and do not pay taxes.”

The Chareidim simply cannot “serve” in the Zionist army, because the Zionist army is an army of shmad. They also have no need to “serve” in that army because – against the will of the chareidim – it is the wicked Zionists who invaded and created the cataclysmic mess that they, the Zionists, are engaged in forever wars as a result.

Besides for that part of his despicable statement, since this heretic is a member of “parliament”, maybe he could work on a “law” that would allow the chareidim to work without first being shmaded in that army so that they would pay MORE taxes than they are currently paying.

  3. Israeli Chareidi Bad comparison. If the examples you gave show let’s say 85pct service in the defense of the country whereas the chareidi sector shows let’s say 5pct , the corresponding funding makes sense. Lapid is saying where there’s no service for national defense and a sector wants others to risk their lives against savages, they shouldn’t get funding. I fully agree with this sentiment

  4. taken from “taxpayers” – Chareidim are also “taxpayers”; for people who “do not work, and do not pay taxes.” any evidence supporting this? How many chareidy shops, factories, chareidim working in ALL sections of the industry AND PAYING TAXES!
(IT’S ACTUALLY YOU WITH THE A-G WHO PREVENT CHAREIDY WOMEN TO WORK!!!)
“to destroy our children’s future” how? Who is destroying our children’s future educating them to become criminals, void of any religion, moral and support for the [non-]state of Israel by being part of the leftist anti-Israel movement.
“and transfer it to…” the Arabs, Reform [WITHOUT ANY OVERSIGHT!!!] – Lapid, you seem to have short memory – we very well remember what you did with our money when there was a leftist government!

  5. “AnIsraeliYid” and “DrYidd” are 100% reading this article and nodding in agreement so vigorously, they have mild whiplash….

  6. He has always hated the Chareidim, so there is nothing news here. He thinks he’ll gain the votes of some groups. What bothers me is that a certain group among the Chareidim (I’ll leave them nameless, otherwise I’ll be banned) still honor him, invite him to their public parties and make a Yahrzeit gathering for his equally Chareidim-hating father. Shame on them!

  7. Kissing up to the wicked is a sin and a direct rebellion against hashem. Someone spits at your father and you invite them for meals and give them honor? You can be sure they will share his fate too

  8. @israeli chareidi

The university and sports teams are filled with non religious— the majority of which serve or served in the army. (At least a “majority” that outweighs the percentage of service in the chareidi sector)

There is no mitzvah to force someone to give tzedaka to a yeshiva You in america working for your 1200$/mo Mercedes lease should donate to the yeshivas in israel, out of the goodness in your heart. Not forced to do it.

It’s disgusting to force the IDF life-risking-serving population to pay for the non serving population. That is not yissachar-zevulun. That’s a double chillul Hashem. The first is not to serve. The second is to then have balls of chutzpah to try to force those who serve to find their learning.

  9. rebEmes, 1) the name of G-d has to be spelled with a capital letter at the beginning; 2) who gave you the heter to pronounce a klalah against 2 other posters here with whom you disagree?

  10. Yeshivaman2020, what would you say about American olim who do not become Israeli citizens, receiving benefits while guaranteeing that their children are exempt from service? I say no benefits!!
