Six people were killed and over 15 were injured following a series of mysterious explosions reported in several locations across Iran on Saturday.
According to reports, two major explosions occurred in southern Iran near the Iraqi border. One blast was reported in the port city of Bandar Abbas, killing a young girl and injuring about 14 others. Shortly afterward, another explosion rocked the city of Ahvaz, leaving five people dead and two wounded. A third explosion was reported in the city of Qom, about 140 kilometers south of Tehran.
Shortly after the explosions, a fire was reported in the city of Parand in Tehran Province.
Senior Israeli officials said that Israel has no involvement in the explosions, Reuters reported.
An Israeli security source told Kan News, “We’re monitoring the situation—it wasn’t us, and it didn’t come from us. We’re also unaware of any US strike. The source of the explosions remains unclear.”
Iranian media claimed that the blasts were caused by the explosion of gas balloons.
Iranian outlets also denied reports claiming that a senior Revolutionary Guard commander was killed in one of the blasts
