A major neis occurred on Sunday at the home of Rav Moshe Kas, a Rav in Yeshivas Tiferes Mordechai. His home, located on Rechov Yerushalayim in Bnei Brak, sustained a direct hit from a large missile fragment, but b’chasdei Hashem, there were no injuries.

Footage and testimonies from the heavily damaged home show how close the incident came to ending in tragedy. The mother, who had taken the baby out of the crib just minutes before the missile hit, ran with her children to the protected room immediately upon hearing the siren.

The current state of the house leaves no doubt that had they delayed even one minute, the outcome would have been entirely different.

Srulikl Kornik, a volunteer medic with United Hatzalahs Bnei Brak rescue unit, said: Ive been zoche to save many lives as a volunteer, but the destruction and the enormous neis in todays missile strike in Bnei Brak are beyond belief. Just minutes earlier, the mother ran to take the baby out of the crib.

Another neighbor was working from homeher computer is still onand her apartment was destroyed. The fact that they immediately ran to the protected room saved them all, b’chasdei Hashem.”

Reb Moshe, who entered his apartment to retrieve his tefillin, found them completely intact, while his tallis was riddled with holes from the shrapnel that tore through the home.

A neis also occurred in a nearby apartment, where a young girl had been sleeping. She woke up when the siren began and ran to the protected room. When the fragment hit the building, the window in her room shattered from the blast. A piece of metal from the missile struck the wall exactly where she had been lying moments earlier.

  1. Why is the term “neis” constantly misused in reference to hashgacha pratis?
It is not a “neis” if someone gets out of their beds to go to a shelter BEFORE the missile hit where they were.

The neis would be if they did NOT leave and the missile hit where they were yet they emerged unharmed. That would be a neis. Leaving before the missile hit is not.

A “neis” is a miracle, as in something that is supernatural, not merely hashgacha pratis.
