London Police Investigating Video Claiming Drone Attack on Israeli Embassy By Islamist Group

British counter-terrorism police say they are investigating a video circulating online in which a group claims to have targeted the Israeli Embassy in the United Kingdom with drones carrying hazardous substances, Sky News reported.

Police told the broadcaster that the embassy has not been attacked and that officers are conducting urgent inquiries to verify the footage. They are also examining whether the claim is connected to items discarded in Kensington Gardens.

Responsibility for the purported attack was claimed by Ashab al-Yamin, an emergent Islamist group, in statements and videos posted to social media on Wednesday evening.

The London claim extends a string of incidents across Europe attributed to the same group, which surfaced only in mid-March and has since asserted responsibility for a series of attacks on Jewish institutions in Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece.

The first was the bombing of a shul in Liege, Belgium. That was followed by an attack in Greece and an arson attack on a shul in Rotterdam. Late last month, two minors were arrested in Belgium in connection with an arson incident in Antwerp that Belgian authorities are investigating as antisemitic. Ashab al-Yamin claimed that attack as well, releasing a video showing three masked individuals pouring flammable liquid on a vehicle parked outside a Jewish-owned business and setting it alight, according to Ynet.

The group appears to have had no footprint before mid-March and, unusually for an Islamist organization claiming attacks across multiple countries, does not operate its own Telegram or social media channels.
