Due to a �major� problem in a F-16i, a pilot and navigator taking part in routine training exercises in southern Israel were compelled to turn off the plane�s engines and make an emergency landing. Officials report the decision to kill the engine in midflight is indicative of the seriousness of the problem, adding such a landing is not simple, requiring the crew to use all its skill to manually land the craft.
After deciding there was no fear of a problem with the fleet of the advanced fighter plan, the decision was made to permit continued training operations on Thursday morning.
