HaRav HaGaon Tzion Boaron has already announced he does not plan to bow out of the race to become Israels next Sephardi Chief Rabbi. Despite enormous pressure from Shas leader Aryeh Deri, the rav signals he is not dropping out of the race.
Supporters of the rav explain that for most, Rav Boaron is an unknown. This is true they explain for he is far from politics and the media spotlight, rather a profound talmid chacham, dayan and one whose entire existence is limud and serving the Klall. Rav Boaron is a dayan on the Chief Rabbinates Supreme Court along with his other duties.
Not only is the rav now bowing out of the race, he has released a letter, a scathing attack against Shas and Aryeh Deri.

In the portion of the ravs letter above, the rav slams Deri and Shas and what was done against HaGaon HaRav Moshe Shlomo Amar Shlita regarding the Amar Bill. Deri was behind the effort to sabotage the bill, thereby blocking Rav Amar from serving a second term.
The rav continues, citing There is no mechila and no kapora for the acts perpetrated against Rav Amar.
It is understood by many that Rav Dayan Boaron as the candidate of Rishon LTzion Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar Shlita. The two are close and have served as dayanim together. After the Amar Bill was defeated and Rav Amar learned Aryeh Deri was behind the move, the Rishon LTzion encouraged Rav Boaron to run. Now Shas is trying to persuade the rav to withdraw his candidacy.
