Obama Bubby Dies Less Than 24hrs to Election

oc.jpgBarack Obama said his grandmother died Monday – according to multiple reports.

According to NBC News, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who just turned 84 years old, helped to raise Obama, and had not been well for a long time.

In a campaign ad this year, Obama described Dunham as the daughter of a Midwest oil company clerk who “taught me values straight from the Kansas heartland” — things like “accountability and self-reliance. Love of country. Working hard without making excuses. Treating your neighbor as you’d like to be treated.”

Obama recognized Dunham when he accepted the Democratic presidential nomination at the party’s convention in Denver.

Obama last visited Hawaii in August for a week’s vacation after he clinched the nomination.

1. His statement will probably go something like this:

I regret to inform you the passing of my grandmother, but like my aunt, I never knew anything about her….

2. To # 1 and #2..horrible posts. I did not know a Jewish soul can be this insensitive. Someone died, this is a tragedy regardless of your political association.

3. To “ImustShteig” What’s so bad about wishing that he’ll lose the election? I said “Let’s hope it’s the beginning” which indicates I know it’s bad that his bubby lost her life and I hope that bad luck continues with him losing tomorrow.

4. So Moshe Kapora’s comments are sickening – because A23 doesn’t agree with them. Hmmm. So much for freedom of expression. EVERYONE I know at shul and at the local yeshiva/kollel despises B. Hussein Obama; my views are mild compared to most other frum people I have come in contact with. One of the youngerlite said that he’ll probably – and hopefully – get shot should he win the election, G-d forbid.

5. I am most definitely not voting for Obama, but Moshe Kapora’s comments are hateful and a chillul Hashem. His posting should have been allowed on this website.

6. Was this grandma white? People can poke fun of him, but what did his grandma do? Except for his wife (Ishto K’gufo) leave his family alone.

7. Putting up that picture, and some of the comments here, are quite disgusting. These are human beings and we should be sympathetic. By the way- I’m not a democratic party supporter by any means, but there’s no reason to believe he’s a “Jew hater”.

8. We apologize for some comments which were approved in error.

NOTE: Please do not submit hateful comments. There is no reason for Yidden to post hateful comments about a woman which no one ever heard of before.

It is a Chillul Hashem.

9. #21 That link is quite interesting. Wasn’t there another prominent Rupublican (Gingrich?) who divorced his wife while she was dying on cancer. Rockafeller and Reagan also became involved with their 2nd wives while still married to their first, and Guiliani with the 3rd while married to the 2nd. There “family values” are much different than ours.

10. Thank you, YWEditor, for deleting some of the more hurtful comments. However, I think that #9 is also well beyond the pale. You might do well to consider deleting that one too.

The Wolf

11. Good point, #9. We’ll see how long you have before the censors delete your view! It must be interesting to play G-d and decide which posts will live and which posts will die.

12. EDITORS NOTE: It’s the night before the most heated election in US history, and tensions are running high.

No matter what the opinions of YWN are regarding either of the two candidates is irrelevant now.
What is relevant, is that this website is closely watched and read by many people.

YWN permits bloggers to call Obama a Jew-hater, and bloggers to say that McCain has donated money to Arab terrorists. The reason for this decision is freedom of speech.

What will NOT be tolerated is comments which refer to a candidates race, color, etc. This includes comments written in Yiddish, Hebrew, Lashon Kodesh, Lakewood Language etc etc..

There will be ZERO tolerance of Chillul Hashem!

What Heter is there for someone to come onto a public forum and post hatred against an innocent woman?

None.

13. I am sorry–there is typo in my comment. It should have said:

I am most definitely not voting for Obama, but Moshe Kapora’s comments are hateful and a chillul Hashem. His posting should not have been allowed on this website.

14. “daughter of a Midwest oil company clerk who “taught me values straight from the Kansas heartland” — things like “accountability and self-reliance. Love of country. Working hard without making excuses. Treating your neighbor as you’d like to be treated.”

he is GOOD!
there is no way the american people are not going to embrace and love this man. he will have the mandate of the people and incredible power…

15. 21, I don’t have time to check the whole thing out so don’t know if it mentions this: the first Mrs. McCain is PRO-McCain politically. It is an episode in his life he says he’s not proud of but something good has happened over the years, between his ex’s support, and his good relationship with his older kids.

16. #33,

No snopes selectively decides what it likes as “facts”, and what it doesn’t as “fiction.”

And if you rely on Wikipedia for fact-checking, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn…

17. are you people ok did not mc cain vote 90 percent of the time with bush y was bush so good like his father he wars with iraq killing more americans than bin ladin did. most people dont even understand why we are there. look at clifton ave a haven for illegals. what is going on? why are so many peoples houses going into forclosure ? why are people woring all week and then taking tomchei shabbos? and isnt it funny how the only people allowed to leave the country after 911 was the bin ladins as it says the defect you see in your friend is yours .

18. As a real Bubby, I want to know…is this the grandma Barack Hussein Obama referred to as “a typical white woman”?

If so, the lady at least won’t have the shame of seeing her “einikel” destroy this great country. I’m sure he brought her great Nachas…NOT.

19. To 37 “The Town Crier”

You don’t get it. What he’s trying to say is that if he could say about Rezko “Oh, I only saw him a few times a year!”, and about Rev. Wright “I never heared anything bad from his mouth!” and about W. Ayhres “We just happened to serve on the same board”, and about Khalidi “He was just a guy in the College” and so on and on and on, then he could say he didn’t know his grandmother either…

20. To 38 “MOSHEKAMM”.

Why do you beleive rethoric?

Almost every Democrat also voted %90 of the times with the president (including Joe Biden) because the vast majority of the votes are procedural. Obama is one of the few who has not voted 90% of the time with the president because he has been missing from the Senate since the day he got elected. While his absence from your job in the Senate is of concern, the greater concern is that he spins the facts.

21. I hate Barack Obama. But that’s because of his opinions.
To all those making fun of him for losing a grandmother: that is sick! To make fun of a fellow ben adam who just lost a relitive?
He is still a person.

22. To the WONDERFUL Editors of YWN: Toda raba for your post. I have not posted comments on YWN in a long time, and but for this one I do not plan to post any others, unless it is to acknowledge YWN, because it seems that we have such hatred coming from some of our very own Jewish people who post on this site, and it makes me feel so sad to read such vile and hateful words about others (even against each other!!!) (there’s even racial prejudice coming from us that is SO inappropriate, especially given we’re just as hated by many groups as the people we’re posting hateful speech against!).

I had to post this comment to commend you on not only deleting a lot of the hateful posts about the political candidate’s grandmother, but also for responding as you did. I do not follow politics in America (meaning, I leave it to HaShem to allow whatever candidate is prophesied about to be in office), so I have no loyalty to either candidate. But what I do feel is compassion. I could never find myself writing (or speaking) such hateful words against a person I do not know just because I may not agree with their relative or friend, etc. This post may sound like I’m being judgmental, but I am not. What my post is trying to convey is that I feel hurt by a great deal of the comments that some of my very own Jewish people often write, and even more hurt that those who disagree with them are often “beaten up” with nasty and evil comments against them, as well. This is why I no longer post comments on this site (again, but for those that acknowledge YWN).

Again, thank you, YWN.

23. did she really just die or did this happen months ago and they saved the announcement for just before election day to get the “feel Sorry” vote

24. repent for Messiah is comeing do teshuva plz for Hashem sake return awayward son for Hashem is listening and he want us to return to him if we all do teshuva all proplems in this world will be gone no more wars sickness anxiety it will be perfect peace and the best pleasure in this world so plz repent paid for by Messiah 08

25. do tweshuva if you do all proplems of this world will stop plz stop sinning if we do then anxiety will stop war hunger famine and sickness Paid by Messiah 08

26. I may not be voting for Obama, for a variety of reasons, but I still want to extend my deepest condolences. There are some things that just cross party lines.

27. I think all these comments should be taken down. All this comments section has done, is create Sinas Chinum and Chillul Hashem’s. Do the klal a favor and delete the comments section on this article.

28. Let us all take a bow for Uncle bacci40, for having moved to the left coast discarding all of us Yiddishe racists.

Now 3 minutes of silence, please.

29. I don’t understand why all this non-sense commenting is necessary. If you don’t feel anything for this person regarding his loss then just don’t comment because this isn’t the place;Especially if you have rude and disgusting comments that are 100% a Chillul Hashem and have nothing to do with this post. I’m 15 and I can’t vote yet but im also glad I can’t because I see the disgusting self-justification that you people use to manipulate your own thoughts and beliefs. It just turns you into something disgusting. Regardless of what you think of the guy, not everything is bad about him and even if everything was, so what? Do you fear that this is the end for us? Well let me tell you something. You and your children have studied history and you pay tuition for your children to learn in a yeshiva and the one thing that does guarantee our destruction is Sin’as Chinam. So get your acts together and start acting like adults. Oh, and by the way: You’re not posting these comments on a piece of paper- you are on a server which can be accessed by anyone. So think twice before writing anything stupid. I normally don’t waste my time commenting on this site, but sometimes the contradictory statements drive me crazy. I hope you’re not ‘Mechanech’ your kids this way too. Leave it to someone else, please. I don’t want my generation ending up like you. — My condolences for this human being…

30. The Town Crier, #58, says “…Does anyone realize that some of the stuff posted in forums like these and others can someday be used as evidence against us?…”

Nebuch – is that the only issue? What in Hashem’s name have we become? Just another hate mongering tribe? What have we done to Hashem’s Torah chaim v’ahavas chesed utzedakah uvracha v’rachamim v’chaim v’shalom? Very, very sad.

31. i would just like to say that even though i believe that obama will be the worst thing to happen to america and possibly the world since at least jimmy carter, blasting his innocent 86 year old cancer-ridden grandmother is a huge chillul hashem

#38, the war in iraq has made israel a safer place by diverting terrorist funding from iran (who obama wants to negotiate with) from palestinian terrorist to shiite militias in iraq. and what on earth do you mean by “the only people allowed to leave the country after 911 was the bin ladins” ?! are you really crazy enough to suggest that bush is not letting people out of the country?!

32. Some people are just so sick minded. Especially MOSHEKAMM how can you say things like that and just feel fine because others say it to or worse than that. Obviously you and many others are RACIST.

33. dear ywn you know that lawsuits could be filed agains you so u migh as well take down this entire site or make it blog free ad btw cut out the loshon hora

34. illini, It is merely your illusion. The truth is with the Torah, which you are sadly distanced from.

Indeed, the Emes shall prevail, despite the illusions in this temporary world that obscure it. And all the many Gedolim and Rabbonim who espouse what I merely repeat shall be proven correct with time.

Your fantasy world is coming to its conclusion.

35. illini,

Sadly you have been blinded to the light of the Torah, that you are unable to distinguish between your goyish views and what the Torah wants of you. But I trust you will one day see the light of the Torah.

36. Hey illni and joseph,

Do either of you work? You spend the whole morning fighting about who is a bigger oisvurf.

Really, this is about the death of obamas grandma and the upcoming elections. Please stick to the topic and issue at hand and not bicker like kleine kinder in public. OK?! Good boys.

Lev melachim vesarim beyad Hashem.

37. Joseph,
ayin tov was talking to both of you, not just illini. Your inability to even take the time to consider somone else’s point of view without condemning it makes me want to vomit.
Now back on topic:
I sympathize with Obama, but I am annoyed by the fact that he will now get many pity votes. I really hope McCain wins, but I’m not going to start worrying if Obama does. Most, if not all, of the people who are getting ready to ‘flee’ America probably do not know the first thing about how the American government works or how checks and balances work. One man cannot make things so bad that you would need to ‘flee’

38. The following is a letter that I faxed to Senator Obama’s Chicago office earlier today.
Note that I was originally highly skeptical– even contemptuous– of Sen. Obama; I said that if everything were the same but he wasn’t a minority, there would never have been any candidacy to speak of.
But Obama has been greatly ennobled by his enemies, while vindicating himself quite impressively in a number of ways.

With the help of the A-lmighty

The Honorable Senator Barack Obama

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Dear Senator Obama,

I was sorry to hear of the death of your grandmother and wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family.

I am glad you at least got to spend some time with her not too long ago and that she died peacefully.

While I have a number of serious issues with and reservations regarding both yourself as well as Senator McCain, on the overwhelming, existential question of national security and stability, I consider you and Senator Biden the only true choice in this election.

I also want to tell you that I have been repelled and outraged by the vile way in which you and your family have been attacked and smeared. I am alarmed at how many distortions, misrepresentations and even outright fabrications and falsehoods I have seen gain traction and the lack of accountability on the part of those responsible for creating and perpetuating them.

I am hoping and praying that you win this election by a historic, uncontested landslide.

G-d has obviously blessed you with great talents and abilities. May you always use them only for good and lead with moral courage, wisdom, compassion and justice.

With the wish that we always be blessed with the peace, tranquility and justice necessary to enjoy a conscientious prosperity and freedom, I am,

Respectfully yours,
[signed]

P.S.- I read that you promised your daughter a dog after the election. It is my hope that you will choose to set a powerful example by adopting a dog from a shelter instead of purchasing one from a store or breeder.

39. independent observer obama is the most inexperienced and socialist candidate for president EVER. In his ONE senate term, Obama has only written 2 laws, but has written THREE books about HIMSELF. When he was elected senator, he was asked if he would consider running for president. He said NO, because then he’d “have to essentially start now”.

Obama has also said that he doesn’t regret his slip to Joe the Plumber that he intends to “spread the wealth around”. This means he wants to take your hard-earned parnassa and give it to some lazy drug addict on streets. I don’t want this to happen – do you?!

And then there’s the most important issue of Obama negotiating with Ahmadinejad, who intends to “wipe Israel off the map” and is the main supporter of terrorism. Or do you support Ahmadinejad?!

Now, let’s take a look at the people behind the obama campain:

Palestinian Ibrahim Abu Jayab, 24, is seen next to his computer, in his family house in Nusayrat refugee camp, central Gaza Strip, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008. A young Palestinian in a Gaza refugee camp is doing his part to get out the vote for Barack Obama. With a little help from the Internet, 24-year-old Ibrahim Abu Jayab is cold calling random American families from his parent’s home imploring them to vote Obama.

On the eve of a planned meeting with former President Jimmy Carter, the isolated Hamas terrorist organization has expressed “hope” Sen. Barack Obama will win the presidential elections and “change” America’s foreign policy. “We like Mr. Obama, and we hope that he will win the elections,” Ahmed Yousuf, Hamas’ top political adviser in the Gaza Strip, said in an exclusive interview with WND and with the John Batchelor Show on WABC Radio in New York.

Obama’s anti-Israel advisors
By Alan Simons
Ask many American Jews what they think about Zbigniew Brzezinski, a former national security advisor who served under President Carter, and you’ll receive a multitude of comments of which the vast majority aren’t particularly favourable. These comments can perhaps best be summed up in one sentence. “He’s no friend of Israel.”
Brzezinski is one in a list of advisors that have recently joined the Obama campaign. David Bonior is another member of Obama’s team. As a Congressman, Bonior was known for his strong opposition to pro-Israel policies, being called by some “the biggest supporter of the anti-Israel Arab lobby in Congress.” (Jonathan Tobin, Jewish World Review,7/12/99).
General Tony McPeak is also part of Obama’s team, and Robert Malley, who according to Daniel Pipes, is a sympathizer of the PLO, recently had to resign ‘after it was emerged that he was talking to Hamas.’ Malley is the Director of the Middle East/North Africa Program at the International Crisis Group (ICG). Brzezinski, sits as a member on ICGs Board.

Do you want someone with these supporters, advisers, and positions to be president?! Voting for Obama is a risk that we as Americans and as Jews simply cannot take.
