Meshi-Zahav: We Don’t Need ‘Peirush Rashi’ On The Yellow Star

Speaking to Israel Radio’s Reshet Bet Radio on Sunday afternoon, Zaka founder and leader Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, a longtime Meah Shearim resident, stated “why do we need peirush Rashi on the words of these people”.

Meshi-Zahav followed an interview with a member of the Sikrikim, who explained that the use of the concentration camp uniforms and display of yellow stars at the motzei Shabbos Kikar Shabbos rally were not out of place. He went on to describe the outrageous attitude against the chareidi community, defending Shmuel Weissfish, the hoodlum who was found guilty of assault and extortion and beginning his two-year prison term today. The latter is officially a member of the local vaad tznius.

Concluding his interview, the member of Neturei Karta explained that later this month representatives of his community will be holding a meeting with Jordanian diplomatic officials in the hope of arranging for 5,000 families to move to Jordan, those seeking to move out of the “Zionist anti-religious state”.

Meshi-Zahav explained that these people are simply getting away with too much, and they are granted too much media coverage. He explained that in the past they called them “Neturei Karta” but today, the term “sikrikim” seems to have replaced the former. Meshi-Zahav reminded listeners that these are the very same people who meet with Israel’s enemies, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

“They started a fire in their home and now, it is burning out of control. They simply don’t know how to contain it” he added.

Meshi-Zahav detailed just how the general chareidi population in Meah Shearim and elsewhere are bearing the brunt, suffering as a result of the actions of these hoodlums, who he insists still represent nothing more than a small fraction of the general chareidi tzibur, which is law-abiding and in no way condones their acts.

Regarding Shmuel Weissfish, the vaad tznius members heading to prison, he questions why a normal person would seek to portray such an individual as a hero, to praise his actions. “He burns down stores owned by his own people, chareidim. There is nothing to say. He is a hoodlum and should be in prison”.

Meshi-Zahav feels that the system does not wish to end the current alarming situation, for if officials did, they only need to install 20 cameras in Jerusalem, 20 in Beit Shemesh, and in a short time, they will have sufficient evidence to put the responsible parties away, behind bars.

  1. How long do these “people” think they’ll be living in Jordan until they’ll be blown up just for being Jewish? Maybe a day or two…then what?

  2. Questions:

re: “Concluding his interview, the member of Neturei Karta”

Is this referring to (R’?) Meshi-Zahav?

“later this month representatives of his community will be holding a meeting with Jordanian diplomatic officials in the hope of arranging for 5,000 families to move to Jordan, those seeking to move out of the “Zionist anti-religious state”.”

Well, that’s one way to get the Palestinians to Jordan (when they follow to claim the land Jews are living on).

Of course on the right side…he was intervoewed after a an unnamed neturei kartanik was interviewed. he condemmed the bad stuff.
    Is that better?

  4. I’m delighted to learn that 5,000 of these extremist families will be moving to Jordan. Maybe they’ll return with real knowledge of what an anti-Semitic state feels like.

  5. Sinners get spit out of Eretz Yisroel. The biggest Aveira is hatred of a fellow jew because every jew has a part of Hashem within them. They will get spit out of Israel eventually; so in essence they are doing Ratzon Hashem by moving to Jordan. Nesiah Tova!!

  6. Do you realize how brave and how much courage Rav Meshi Zahav had to state what he did? His Yerushalmi family lives right there amongst those Sikrikim, and they won’t hesitate to take revenge on his family and extended family. And these Sikrikim have been known to target various Charedi families with all kinds of harrassment-including the children. May Hashem protect his family and the many merits he has accumulated through his work in Zaka assist him.
