Moving to Daylight Savings Time in Israel on Chol Hamoed Pesach

clock.gifIsrael will move to daylight savings time on Thursday night chol hamoed Pesach. Clocks are moved one hour forward at 2:00am to 3:00am. Israel changes back to standard time on October 6, 2013.

By pushing off the move until chol hamoed, it permits starting Pesach seder an hour earlier, a welcome reality for most Israelis.

  1. You really do have to wonder who the “MAJORITY” is.
I have a young family and on seder night other than keeping my eye on the time of Chatzos, time is not a consideration. And if changing the time is not vital why do it on Chol Hamoed?

  2. Wish we had the same here. Plus ending Yom Kippur at around 6 PM sounds good to me too….(Yes, I know it’s still 25 hours).

  3. IYAinBENEIBRAK – I think the point of the article is that if they started summer time BEFORE Pesach, it would be harder for the children to stay awake. And in the USA we did start it several weeks ago.
