Temple Institute to Reveal Klei HaMikdash

koselThe Temple Institute announces it will be holding a media event to reveal what it calls the “Treasures of the Temple” exhibit in Jerusalem’s Old City, its klei HaMikdash are the results of years of research and work.

Over the last three decades the institute has researched seforim to recreate over 40 keilim that are ready for use in the Third Beis HaMikdash. Amongst the items showcased are the 1.5 ton golden Menorah, the Kohen Gadol’s breastplate adorned with 12 precious gemstones and a computerized washing station for priests that automatically dispenses the exact Halachic amount of water without wasting a drop.

The media event is set for Rosh Chodesh Av 5773 in the Temple Institute located at 40 Misgav Ladach Street in Jerusalem’s Old City. It is not open to the general public.

The event will include a guided tour of the new facility and an explanation of the significance of the Beis HaMikdash in today’s modern world, followed by questions and answers with Rabbi Chaim Richman, the organizations international director and author of over a dozen books on the subject.

  1. Azoy…the koahanim, bizman shebeis hamkidash haya kayam, had to worry about whether to use an Intel or AMD chipset in their computerized vashing station…..don’t these erhrliche yidden have something useful to do with their time and resources. They are obviously very smart and ingenious so maybe they could apply themselves to the gazillion problems afflicting yidden ba’olam hazeh and let the Ebeshter take care of z’man moishiach

  2. Perhaps this is the Boreh Olams plan for the upcoming geulah. Wouldn’t you be scared to speak on His behalf on how his soldiers spend their time?

  3. Gadolhadorah – you’ve decided this is not something worthy of their time? Have you ever set down and learned through the Mefarshim and Poskim of how Mashiach is going to come and the Mikdash rebuilt? Thank God we have Talmidei Chachamim in Yerushalayim who are doing this for us!

  4. I would like to commend the Machon Hamikdash for the remarkable job they are doing in actualizing so many things that sound so theoretical when we learn Torah. My children and I have benefited from their beautifully crafted illustrations and models.
I visit their museum every time I travel there. According to the Rambam, biyas hamoshiach will be without miracles and the Binyan Bais HaMikdash will be incumbent on all of us (Rashi and Tosefos disagree and hold that it will come from heaven).

Isn’t it nice to know that when we will need the Keilim, hopefully very soon, these people will give us a head start. Their expertise will be invaluable.

I, however, disagree with their using electricity in the Bais Hamikdosh. Cables carrying electricity can stretch and interconnect for many miles. A piece of wire far away touching a corpse or av hatuma will chalila bring tuma right into the Azara.

  5. These fine individuals are aspiring to do whatever can be done to prepare for the day when the Avodah will be restored in the Mikdash, and that is certainly ratzon Hashem.
I am surprised though about a 1.5 ton menorah, which would be 3000 pounds, or 48000 ounces. With gold at about $1200 a ounce, it should be valued at over $57 millon. I hope they have arranged for adequate security at their media event!

  6. #1 You are obviously unaware of the fact that building the Bais Hamikdash is a chiyuv gamur even before Moshiach.

  7. Gadolhadorah, let these fine men use their beautiful skills to build a masterpiece. I’m sure I can take a tour around your home and dining room and point out unnecessary items that you own or invested in that are superfluous for daily living. Next time you spend so much for a fancy book case, think about whether or not that was truly necessary.
