Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita: War is Related to Bittul Torah

k1.jpgRav Hershel Reichman, a teacher at Naaleh.com, met with Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlit’a on Motzei Asara B’Teves.  When asked about the war, the Rav said that the war is related to bittul Torah, (negligence in the area of Torah study), and indicated that now is the time to strengthen and increase our Torah study.

Everyone can help our brothers in Israel during this trying time by learning more Torah. Naaleh.com is heeding the call of the gadol hador, by running a special Eretz Yisrael Solidarity Learning Campaign, encouraging and enabling more Torah study.   Naaleh.com invites all Jews to come visit the Torah website, and to commit to at least one extra hour of learning per week for the duration of the war in Southern Israel.  Participants in the program can choose to learn for the general welfare of the Jews of Eretz Yisrael, or can take the name of a specific soldier and learn on his behalf.  If you want the name of a specific soldier, please email us at [email protected].

Classes at Naaleh.com are given on a wide variety of topics, so everyone, regardless of learning background or interests, can partake in the opportunity to learn in the merit of the safety of the people of Israel.  Naaleh video classes are unique in that they are created specifically with online learning in mind, they are given as class series that cover topics in depth, and are taught by some of the top Torah teachers in the Jewish world.

  1. The words of the Gadol Hador must be taken seriously. Tehillim and Teffila is all important but if Bittul Torah is connected with the war then the only way to end it is with Torah learning.

  2. INDEED!! THIS WAR IS BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE LEARNED THE SEFER “VA’YOEL MOSHE”.

Today it is easier than ever to learn because Satmar Talmidim have put out a Likut of the Sefer. get your copy and learn it today!!

  3. “Rav Hershel Reichman, a teacher at Naaleh.com…”

Rav Hershel Reichman is also a Rosh Yeshiva at RIETS, Yeshiva University, and has several hundred shiurim, as well, at YUTorah.org.

  4. Not enough of learning the Sichos about Inyonei Moshiach Ig’ula

Most people are still waiting for Moshiach the old way,(anybody that Hashem chooses), not relizing that at this point we already have one. We just have to be him M’kabel.

  5. TO NUMBER 3 AND NUMBER 10 UR BOTH CRAZY!!!!! WHAT PART OF THE SENTENCE “War is Related to Bittul Torah” DID YOU NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU SPECULATING WHAT HE MEANT???? ITS VERY SIMPLE WHAT HE MEANT!!!!!!!! SO MAYBE WE SHOULD ALL START TO LEARN AND IM INCLUDING MYSELF IN THIS ALSO.

  6. pashut – that sefer deals with, a little, the yishuv, NOT a medina, it makes no mention of a medina, soverignty, nationalism, ‘aschalta degeulah’, or the like – just a yishuv, which many tzadikim were for.

That being said, even the lubavitcher rebbe(who deviated from his father-in-law’s anti-zionism, which was arguably equal to or more than the satmar rov’s, and changed lubavitch’s position to one of non-zionism) said that rabbi teichtal was ‘far from zionism’.

Honestly, mizrachisten quote that sefer all the time, but did you even bother finding out about it, or do you just spit back whatever the dati-leumi people say?

I disagree with no. 3 though, I’m as behind basing zionism and the medina as anyone, but there is a time and a place – don’t make anti-zionism into an avodah zara like the zionists made the medina into; learning always comes first, and the mitzvah to learn means learning anything.

  7. #14, I hope you are really speaking out of ingnorance and not out of mockery. Your comment seems to mock daas torah. Yes, our gedolim are as close as we can get right now to hearing the words or cheshbonos of Hashem. There’s a reason they are our Gedolei Hador…and yes, we do need to heed their words as they sure have a better idea of what Hashem wants from us than we do!
