Israeli Father: My Son Was Beaten, Starved, and Hidden in 40 Locations Across Gaza

The father of freed Israeli captive Eitan Mor said his son was moved between roughly 40 different locations in Gaza City during his two years in Hamas captivity — including sites both above and below ground.

In an interview with Israel’s Kan public broadcaster, Tzvika Mor described harrowing details of his son’s imprisonment, saying that Eitan spent his first three days bound with his hands behind his back and the first year held entirely alone.

“He had stretches with almost no food,” Mor told Kan’s Reshet Bet radio. “There were times he got just a few spoonfuls of rice a day.”

At one point, Eitan tried to steal a pita to eat. “The terrorist who was guarding him beat him,” his father said. “The one who saved him was the terrorist’s wife, who yelled at her husband to stop.”

Eitan was freed as part of the phased hostage-release agreement brokered between Israel, Hamas, and international mediators.
