Dental Fraud Sting Hits Ponovitz Yeshiva

The directors of Ponovitz Yeshiva received a fax about a month ago from a man who immigrated from the FSU, presenting himself as a dentist. He explained that a large ambulance that was used by the Shachal Company and was sold to a physician is now available to him as a mobile dental unit.

He offered the yeshiva to bring his vehicle during appropriate hours, to treat those in need at a subsidized price. The yeshiva directorate was quite pleased with such a benevolent offer.

The rabbonim realized the offer was indeed good, and would prevent bitul Torah, and the services on the van were enlisted, reporting to come to the aid of those in need on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Many avreichim were treated, including members of the kollel of HaGaon HaRav Sorotzkin Shlita.

The sting became apparent when the doctor inspected the patients, took payment, and sent to a regular dental clinic for treatment, explaining they had to complete what he began, since his equipment in the mobile unit was limited.

When they arrived at the standard clinics to complete their treatments, they learned the recommendations they received were simply not correct, realizing the ‘doctor’ was a fraud.

The yeshiva directors quickly released word of the fraud and the mobile unit was distanced from the yeshiva grounds.

  1. #1 and #2: C’mon. You are reading the headline wrong. It should read (right to left, almost) “Yeshiva Ponovitz Hits Dental Fraud (in) Sting.”
The Yeshivah was obviously acting under cover for the government.
