Hikind Slams Bloomberg Over Ground Zero Mosque Remarks

Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) today denounced Mayor Bloomberg for his recent sanctimonious remarks regarding the proposed site of the Islamic community center and mosque just blocks away from Ground Zero.

“Mayor Bloomberg’s behavior is outrageous. He owes an apology to all New Yorkers,” said Hikind. “His remarks were insulting, degrading, and condescending. While Mayor Bloomberg is entitled to his point of view, he should not impugn others who have a differing opinion. The Mayor needs to get off his high horse, stop lecturing us, and acknowledge that other people have legitimate points of view.”

Hikind also questioned Bloomberg’s apparent indifference about the funding for the mosque and community center. “Why isn’t the Mayor more concerned about following the money trail?” Hikind asked. “People have a right to be worried. Historically, there have been enough instances where terrorist monies were used to fund seemingly innocuous projects. The Mayor’s behavior can only be classified as pure chutzpah.”

  1. I wouldn’t be suprised if Bloomberg was mayor instead of Giuliani during 9/11’s aftermath he would’ve taken the $500,000 from the saudis

  2. Hikind vying to be in the news once again. This reminds me of demanding the tapes from the LA Times and denouncing Achmadinejad. I mean Bloomberg (who I do think is an idiot here) refuted high-profile individuals such as Palin and Guiliani on this issue. What does Hikind think will happen with a press release other than making the news? If Hikind wants to stop this let him get to work. Lobby against it behind scenes to stop it. Get his ‘good friend’ Paterson to stop it, etc. It takes exactly thirty seconds to issue a press release, we want politicians at work!

  3. It is pure chutzpah! The feelings and opinions of the citizens of New York should supersede that of immigrants. Furthermore, if anyone has objections to the mosque at ground zero, that should have a major consideration before all else.

  4. Good for Dov for speaking out. And shame on you Mayor Bloomberg! I didn’t vote for you for good reason. You are nothing more than a hustler!

  5. Dear Dov:

    With all due respect:

    1. The U.S.A. is bankrupt. The only way we re,ain afloat is through foreign loans to the U.S. Treasury (purchase of T-Bills), mainly from China and the Arab countries, who have all the money.

    2. Therefore, the people who know the score do not want to do anyting that would antagonize our creditors.

    3. Mayor Bloomberg’s main business, which earned him 4.5 billion dollars, is business information–Bloomberg financial news services. He knows the score.

    4. So, Booombertg’s attitude is: Let’s all shut up. We’re all just a bunch of beggars, who have no right to speak.
..and besides, the New York City economy could really use that $100 million dollar contruction deal.
