Cleveland: Hachnosas Sefer Torah

Australia gets Shomer Shabbos traffic lights

trafficlight.jpgAustralia’s first kosher pedestrian crossings will feature hi-tech detection sensors, allowing Frum Jews to cross busy Sydney streets safely during Shabbos. Waverley and Woollahra councils are expected to install the devices at two intersections in Old South Head Rd at a cost of $19,800, after the Roads and Traffic Authority rejected a plan to re-program traffic lights. waterburypd.jpgThe Waterbury Police Department held its annual Holiday Community Party yesterday. The party was at the Community Relation Division’s office located on Bank Street. Many residents of the City turned out for the event. Among those in attendance was Rabbi Rephael Max, Executive Director of Yeshiva Gedolah, located on Cooke Street. Queens: New Satmar Yeshiva coming under fire

satmarnewbuilding.jpgThe moment many Glendale residents have been trying to forestall for over two years came at 10 a.m. Sunday, when a line of buses pulled up to a new yeshiva at 88th Street and began unloading hundreds of students for their first day of class. The United Talmudic Seminary, located at 74 10 88th St., opened to an initial 600 pupils, despite loud objections by civic leaders who claim the facility will drain local resources and add nothing useful to the community. Eretz Yisroel needs rain

Due to the fact that here has been no (REAL) rain in Eretz Yisroel yet, they are making a big Atzeres Tefillah tonight at 11:30PM in Zichron Moshe (Geulah). Maran Hagoen R’ Eliyshiv Shlita also told the Shliach Tzibur at his Minchah Minyan to say the Tefillah of Aneinu during Chazoras Hashatz.

More time for death decision in Seattle terrorist

A Seattle judge has given King County Prosecutor Norm Maleng another week to decide whether to seek the death penalty against the man accused of shooting up the Jewish Federation office in Seattle this past summer. Naveed Haq is charged with aggravated murder plus attempted murder and other charges in the July 28 shooting. One woman was killed and five others were wounded.

Monsey: Good Sam Hospital to open cardiac unit

goodsam.jpgStarting at the end of December a new $25 million cardiac unit will be opened at Good Samaritan Hospital, where doctors will be able to preform open-heart surgery. It will be the first time open-heart surgery will be performed anywhere west of the Hudson River in New York state between the Bronx and Albany.

Court Ruling: Security fence in Yerushalayim is legal

fence.jpgIsrael’s High Court has ruled against residents of a Yerushalayim neighborhood by allowing legally stalled construction of a large security wall to continue. The nine-judge panel Wednesday ruled against an appeal by residents of the a-Ram neighborhood in northern Jerusalem, lifting a court-imposed halt on construction of the fence. (more…)
