8:21AM EST: More than 13 rockets have struck Sderot today (Friday). Two people were injured after a rocket directly hit a home. One rocket also hit a gas station – causing a fire. The IDF is increasing it’s response in Gaza City by launching numerous air-strikes.
8:32AM EST: Israeli police are taking precautions to protect the residents of Ashkelon since they have reason to believe that Hamas will strike with longer range rockets.
8:44AM EST: Rocket damage in recent days in Sderot is estimated at NIS 65 million.
11:19AM EST: Two Kassams land in Sderot – one near a school. No injuries reported)
12:17PM EST: Israeli tanks have just shelled a suspected Kassam launching pad in Northern Gaza.

Owners of the nation’s largest kosher slaughterhouse have been facing an organized revolt from workers who are unhappy with conditions at the factory – first in the form of a class-action lawsuit against the company, and more recently in a mass walkout by employees during regular working hours. Explosion at Israel Military Industries facility
Friday, May 18th, 20079:00AM EST: A large explosion occurred at an Israel Military Industries factory in Nazerth Ilit. The blast apparently occurred in one of the ammunition rooms, apparently as the result of a fire. Fire fighters were working to extinguish the blaze. There is no word yet on injuries or casualties. 10:08AM EST: The fire department temporarily needed to halt fighting the blaze due to munitions exploding in the factory. Officials report that B”H there are no injuries – and there is no danger to the nearby residents.

Gaydamak evacuates Chareidi families from Sderot
Friday, May 18th, 2007Russian-Israeli billionaire Arkadi Gaydamak has been evacuating many families from the city of Sderot. Included in those families are 50 Chareidi families who have been placed into Mehadrin hotels. Yisroel Goldshmidt, who is one of Gaydamak’s close aids, told Ladaat News that ”in the previous evacuation we did not know there were Chareidi religious families in Sderot.”

5/18/07 9:53AM EST: The 61 PCT Lieutenant tells Yeshivaworld, that three men posing as police officers rang the bell, the door opened & they tried to steal a safe inside the home. A scuffle occurred between the trio and the homeowner – ending with a shot being fired in the thigh of the 47 year-old-man. One man is in custody, but police are searching for the other two fugitives.
Kiryas Yoel: Person hit by a forklift

Hatzolah paramedics are on the scene in Kiryas Yoel with a person who was struck by a forklift. A Medevac from Westchester Trauma Center (Stat-Flight) is responding with a 15 minute ETA – to be landing at Bakertown School. The condition of the patient is unknown at this time.
Kassam hits Sderot Shul

Detroit: Hachnosas ST to take place on Sunday

On May 20, five years after his passing, Yeshiva Bais Yehudah of Detroit will complete a sefer Torah to commemorate the legacy of Rabbi Avrohom Abba Freedman, zt”l. Rav Yitzchak Scheiner, shlita, Rosh haYeshiva of Yeshivas Kaminetz of Yerushalayim and a close friend of Rabbi Freedman for more than sixty years will fly from Eretz Yisroel to participate in the Hachnosas Sefer Torah. The overwhelming success of the project was largely due to the enthusiasm and support of Mr. Gary Torgow, a former talmid and president of the yeshiva, who initiated the entire undertaking, as well as countless alumni and friends world-wide. A large number of family members are expected to travel to Detroit to honor Rabbi Freedman’s memory.
Lakewood shul in house causes a stir
Thursday, May 17th, 2007There is an article in today’s Asbury Park Press about residents of a condominium complaining that a home was converted into a Shul - in violation of the bylaws of the A Country Place Development. The 376 unit retirement community had some residents complaining at the at the condominium association’s last meeting that the Shul was an infraction of the rules, while Jewish residents insisted the Shul had a right to stay. IAF launches air-strikes in Gaza City

8:47AM EST: Responding to a non-cessation of Kassam rocket attacks in Israel, the Israeli air force responded Thursday morning – firing a missile – and destroying a Hamas security headquarters. One man was killed and 30 others wounded. Earlier today, the IDF sent several tanks into the northern Gaza Strip for the first time since the ceasefire took effect six months ago. Hamas has announced that it would respond to Israel’s attacks with suicide attacks inside Israel.
10:21AM EST: The IAF has carried an additional two air-strikes. Both of them are reported to be on cars carrying terrorists. At least three terrorists have been killed – including a senior Hamas terrorist responsible for the production of Kassam rockets.
1:08PM EST: The Israeli air force has launched yet another air-strike in the Gaza Strip killing at least 7 terrorists & wounding dozens. A total of 16 Kassam rockets rained down on the city of Sderot today. One rocket scored a direct hit on a high school – injuring two people. over 1000 residents have been evacuated from the city by Russian-Israeli billionaire Arkady Gaydamak.
1:10PM EST: At a press conference today, White-house spokesman credited Israel with exercising great restraint in responding to the repeated rocket attacks on Israel. He also mentioned that Israel had a right to defend herself.
3:30PM EST: Palestinian sources tell Channel 2 that the IDF has electronically taken over a few Gaza radio stations – and are warning civilians to flee the Kassam rocket launching zones over the airwaves.
7:37PM EST: The Air force continues carrying out pinpointed strikes at terrorists in Gaza City. At least 4 additional killed and scores wounded from these latest strikes.
