Education Ministry To Recognize Certificates Issued To Chareidi Girls For The Purpose Of Higher Education

The Ministry of Education determines that holders of a certificate of a ‘senior qualified teacher’ signed by the ministry who successfully passed the Sold tests will be considered as having an equivalent diploma as one who completed matriculation exams.

This decision was signed by Education Ministry Director-General Shmuel Abuav, who wrote a letter to the heads of institutions of higher education in Israel.

The significance of the new directive is that chareidi girls who complete their studies in seminary (high school) and wish to acquire an academic education will no longer need pre-academic preparatory studies to obtain a matriculation certificate prior to their undergraduate studies.

The diploma of a ‘qualified’ or ‘senior’ teacher, a diploma attained by almost every seminar, will be equivalent to a matriculation certificate for all intents and purposes, so that these pre-academic studies are no longer necessary.
