Frum Leaders Write: ‘Why We Need You to Vote for Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz for Re-election’

cymWhen it comes to political leadership and being able to pass legislation to benefit a community like ours, seniority and experience are key to getting things done in Albany. There is one person who stands out as he continues delivering results to our community year after year. That person isAssemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz.

“For the past 14 years, Steven has been there for our community on every issue of importance from help with funding for yeshivas to our special needs population and our troubled youth,” said noted askan Leon Goldenberg.

As a son of Holocaust survivors, Assembyman Cymbrowitz has been especially sensitive to the needs of the Jewish community. In light of some of the recent anti-Semitic attacks in the area, one of Assemblyman Cymbrowitz’s primary concerns has always been in making sure the community stays safe. He has been working closely with members of the community and law enforcement to ensure that those responsible for hate crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Sam Sutton, a past president of Sephardic Bikur Holim and current President of the Sephardic Community Federation (SCF), has worked alongside the Assemblyman for many years. “Assemblyman Cymbrowitz understands the importance that private schools and yeshivas play in the Jewish community. With that in mind, he has made it his top priority throughout his tenure to alleviate some of their financial burden by making sure the government reimburses yeshivas whenever possible by law,” said Sutton.

During his tenure in the Assembly, Cymbrowitz has been able to secure substantial amounts of capital funding towards many social service institutions in the community. These institutions play an integral role in our community and benefit so many people. Just recently, he presented Agudath Israel of America with capital funds to expand the space of their PCS (Professional Career Services)/COPE Institute, a career training program on 18th Avenue in Brooklyn. With this funding, Agudath Israel will have the ability to serve a larger clientele, which will enable even more people to obtain jobs that provide a solid future for members of our community.

Shmuel Lefkowitz of Agudath Israel knows that he can always count on the Assemblyman to look out for our best interests. “Steven is a true advocate for our community. His priorities are shaped by the community he represents and his voting record reflects the community’s values,” said Lefkowitz.

Steven Cymbrowitz has also demonstrated his political commitment to defend our community’s values by voting against same-gender marriage every time it has come up for a vote in the Assembly. He has shown that his values align with those of constituents.

Over the years, Ronald Tawil, Co-Chairman of the Zoning Committee of Community Board 15 and SCF Co-Chairman, has approached the Assemblyman for assistance on many different issues affecting the community. “Assemblyman Cymbrowitz has fought hard for our community and Yeshivot on the issues that are most important to us. He has delivered results that would not have been possible without his collaborative leadership style and his unwavering personal dedication to our community,” said Tawil.

Assemblyman Cymbrowitz’s 14 years in the Assembly has given him seniority and power to get things done. There is so much more that needs to get done and no one is as qualified, experienced and dedicated to serve as our representative in Albany than Steven Cymbrowitz. Assemblyman Cymbrowitz has earned our trust and support.

It is for these reasons that we are so passionate in our support of the Assemblyman. Please don’t forget to vote in the Democratic Primary thisTuesday, September 9th and re-elect Steven Cymbrowitz to the State Assembly.

  1. Who are ‘frum leaders’?hmmm…

While Cymbrowitz has been passable,Ben Axerlod will
represent us for who we are and what we stand for , and intends to be a Moral
    paragon

  2. “As a son of Holocaust survivors, Assembyman Cymbrowitz has been especially sensitive to the needs of the Jewish community”

Really? Like what? Marrying out of his Jewish faith??? His Parents “survived” the holocaust but Steve is creating one!

“Sensitive” to the needs of the Jewish Community? How? By being one of the strongest advocates for Militant Homosexuality???

Putting out “press releases” by some kiss ups wont help.
Daas Torah has come out very strong to vote for Ben Axelrod.

  3. Why should the frum community support Mr. Cymbrowitz over his opponent, Mr. Akselrod, who is a Chaim Berlin graduate and whose children attend yeshivas? We know Mr. Cymbrowitz has channeled money to our community. Thank you, but that’s our money, not his. I’m sure Mr. Akselrod will also channel money to our community. I think we should support those who most closely personify our values.
