Hafganos continued in Israel on Sunday 30 Nissan on behalf of the talmid yeshiva arrested in Eilat last week after authorities learned he failed to register with draft authorities. The young man was first arrested by police but then handed over to military authorities.

One protest was held at about noon on Sunday outside the community of Elad as protestors tied to block the road, Route 446, in both directions between Lapid Junction and Hashmonaim Junction. Police moved in and as seen in the video and detained some of the protesters.

In a protest on Bar Ilan Street in the capital, at least three people were arrested by police and at least one policeman was injured as a result of being struck in his head with a rock thrown by the protestors.

The second video was taken on Route 446 near the intersection of Route 443 (Between Hashmonaim and Shilat). In this video, one sees a truck driver striking a protestor and the driver is then restrained by police.

  1. When are we as ??? ????? going to learn ?? ???? ?????? ?????? Let’s leave it for the goyim to protest. Let’s just daven ???? ?????? ???? ??????.

  2. If they’re in the B”M learning full time, they shouldn’t have time to be out protesting. If they have time to protest, they’re not learning full time, and should be in the IDF. They can’t have it both ways. Absolute chillul Hashem.

  3. Wait a minute! What was a Yeshiva guy doing in Eilat, of all places? Giving a shiur in Ketzos to beach-goers? Shnayim mikra v’echad targum while getting a suntan? And was the rock thrown by a protester big enough to be yotzei the Chazon Ish’s shiur? I, for one certainly hope so.

  4. This is nothing short of ridiculous. This individual A) was a bum partying in Eilat, B) could have just gone down to the Draft Office and received a deferment, as per the instructions of R’ Shteinman and R’ Chaim, and been free to learn or party or whatever.

  5. I feel the Gedolei Hatorah need to speak openly and forcefully about this. It is a legitimate fear that a talmid in the yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel will invest substantial amounts of time away from the gemora and the Beis Hamedrash, to invest in demonstrations. They do not help anyway. I would be very hesitant to send my bochurim to E”Y to learn.

  6. Why doesn’t Yeshiva World say that he was arrested while going from a bar to a club while being drunk and fighting with a taxi driver. Is this what yeshiva bochrim do during bein hazmanim If this is what we call a yeshiva bocher then what do we call the boys that actually sit and learn gedolei hador I have heard of yeridas Hadoros but lets be real here. He might be registered in a yeshiva but he probably can’t even find the front door. The truth is it doesn’t make a difference the army part this is a boy that needs help and protesting on his behalf just makes those protesters look foolish.

Moderators Note: YWN did. Read about it here.

  7. It’s not relevant here what the Yeshiva boy was or wasn’t doing in Eilat. The Zionists have no right to shmad anyone in their army and this boy has the right to follow the rabbanim who do not permit any coordination with the Zionists.

  8. Those living outside of Israel are disgusted and frustrated with the in-fighting between the two camps of Rav Steinman & Rav Auerbach.

This is leading to parental/rosh yeshiva decision’s to stop sending good/serious/heilige bochurim to learn in Israel and get involved in this nonsense.

  9. coffee addict:

I work full time. In addition, I have a part-time job. In addition, I also walk some dogs around the neighborhood several times a week. Why do you ask?

  10. Perhaps the saddest thing of all is that (at least some of) these adherents of the Pubster Rebbe actually believe that they are doing the right thing.

  11. The Mitzvah to go out and fight Amalek it says in the the torah is Davkah when Amalek was picking on the ones that were outside the Machane “Vayezanev lichah kol hanechshalim”. Even if it is true that this boy is what they are saying about him here which I cannot be mekabel, they still want to take a boy that is a weak boy and destroy him completley in the army. For that we have to go out and fight them over it.

P.S. for the boys that do go to the Lishkat hagiyus there are many many more that are sitting in jail as we speak. Only a certain percetage of the boys that go get defferments. (about 85-90 percent)antd that is only after Missionary style attemts to get them to join the army or national service.

  12. Total insanity, especially those who try to find some rationale to defend this drunken excuse for a party animal who claims he was shteiging in Eilat after the bars closed. The security forces should stop treating these demonstrators with kid gloves and crack a few skulls if they are attacked by the demonstrators. If you have the courage of your beliefs in civil disobedience, then going to jail is part of the consequences. In this case, its hard to feel ANY sympathy for the victim and the rabbonim who organize these demonstrations are themselves creating a bigger chilul hashem than the drunken yungerleit they ostensibly are trying to make into a martyr.
