Great Neck: Police Searching For Missing Man

Great Neck, NY – Authorities are searching for a missing person, and the family has now asked YWN to publish the information in the hope that someone has some info which will help them locate him.

They are looking for 65-year-old Steven M. Mayer. He was last seen on 10/04/10 at 11:30AM, at 40 Radnor Road  Great Neck, NY

He is described as a white male 5’8”, 190 lbs., brown hair, glasses. It is not know what clothing he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.

He was driving a 4-door, grey, 2010 Nissan Sentra, NY reg. EWN4035, and was possibly heading towards the Bronx.

    Per an email from Great Neck Synagogue – The Nassau County Police have informed the Mayer family that based on cell phone information Steve’s last known location on Monday was Riverhead, NY (the eastern end of the LIE).

    Volunteers have begun searching the Riverhead area and eastern Long Island.

    The Lakewood and Monsey Chaverim and Brooklyn Shomrim have gotten involved in the search.

    UPDATE 2:10 p.m. A command center has been set up at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel located at 1707 Old Country Road, Route 58, Riverhead, NY.

    Authorities have now begun searching by Helicopter and K-9.

    All wishing to assist in the search, are requested to head there first, where they will be given further instructions.
