NYC Paying Out Thousands To Settle Blizzard Claims

The city is getting hit by a blizzard of claims from last year’s blizzard.

So far, it has paid out $700,000 and the Daily News reports there are still some 500 unsettled claims remaining.

The claims range from cars smashed by snowplows to those alleging injury.

They had to be filed this week to meet a 90-day deadline.

Sanitation Department officials estimate the city’s total bill from the storm has topped $115 million. That includes overtime pay, salt, equipment, and other expenses.
