Police Make Terror Arrest At Toronto Airport‎

A suspected terrorist was arrested Tuesday by the RCMP at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The suspect — about to board a flight to London — was arrested without incident, police said.

He is charged with attempting to participate in a terrorist activity, as well as counselling someone else to participate in a terrorist activity, the RCMP said in a statement.

From London, the man was going to Cairo and then to Somalia to join Al Shabaab, a militant Islamic group based in that country, and was allegedly planning to participate in terrorist activities, police alleged.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation that began in October by the RCMP and Toronto Police.

The man‚ whose name has not yet been released, is currently being held pending a court hearing Wednesday morning in Brampton.

“The RCMP plays a critical role in the fight against global terrorism, and this investigation is an example of our dedication to this important cause,” said RCMP Insp. Keith Finn.

  1. Good thing they got him before he went to London. There they would have given him a fruit basket and a key to the city.
