Jerusalem: Recognition, Yes – Construction, No!

While President Donald Trump announced the USA recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the statement is nothing more than a declaration for now. Mideast Envoy Jason Greenblatt during a meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, 2 Teves, called on Israel to refrain from major construction in the capital. Also present for the meeting was US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

While the Muslim community, the UN and most of the international community condemn or at the very least do not side with the American declaration, the bottom line is the White House is still controlling construction in the sovereign capital of Israel, instructing the government to refrain from building. Once again, it appears the government headed by PM Netanyahu will accept another construction freeze in the capital.

Ynet quotes Greenblatt and Friedman explaining that despite Israel’s willingness to advance peace negotiations with the PA (Palestinian Authority), the latter remains too angry over the American declaration to address such an option.

It appears the US was informed Israel was planning widespread construction in the capital, but the US administration appears too concerned with the ramifications of such action despite President Trump’s recent declaration.

  1. Stupid move!!!!

The weaker the USA shows it is the weaker they WILL BE!

Had they just ignore the UN and everyone else, then they would all become person non grata.

Israel also needs to get a backbone .

Bibi is weak, and always was!
